Considering a Zoe Crist backpacker. In searching around, there is little in the way of reviews. A few youtubers but that's really it.

Can anyone weigh in on the Backpacker, or if nothing else, the overall quality of Zoe Crist knives? I'm new to the brand and admit I know nothing about them.

They look purty! Try it out and let us know. The Saluda looks nice too. He also makes some Damascus for William Henry and Protech...pretty cool.

Zoe Crist is a custom knifemaker that has licensed designs made by Bark River. Depending on the knife it may be handmade by Zoe Crist or a production knife that he designed and put his name on. The backpacker is one of the licensed designs made by Bark River. I believe some of the backpacker knives are handmade customs, but they are a minority.

Interesting. If the production is contracted out to Baron River, do I have to be worried that the A2 may not really be A2?

I was actually pleased to see a low cost custom myself. A-2 is a pretty good steel too, I have been thinking about getting a custom made knife. When that time comes, I will probably take a look his knives.

I personally would not have a concern with anything from Bark River. They are well known. That being said, I have not seen that the Backpacker is a Bark River production. It’s not listed on their website or any of the retailers. Not saying it’s bs just that it’s news to me.

They have done quite a few runs.
Ambush, Scagel, Blackjack, Fiddleback Forge, and Hyken to name just a few.

I have a small Zoe Crist that I really like, FWIW. The materials are basic but the fit and finish are top notch on mine and the knife has gotten a lot of use.
