I was just wondering how many people have any experience with the ZT 0100 fixed blade? I couldn't find much info about it. Is it worth it? Or should I spend my two hundred on something else?

I've heard several good reviews on it. I highly doubt ZT would put out an unsatisfactory product. It comes with a nylon sheath, for the price I'd prefer kydex. DLC coatings are the way to go if you want any sort of coating. 3-D machined G-10 is supposed to be very comfortable. Very organic shape, so it will be kind of difficult to sharpen. The scales are removable, and I can envision it being gorgeous with some red c-tech scales made for it. I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying one, but there are plenty of other knives you could get for that money though.

The handle is very nice and comfortable. I think it is an excellent knife for what it seems to be designed for. I won't use mine because I paid so much for it and I'm also quite neurotic about not using anything I only have one of and is expensive or rare. I beat the heck out of my ESEE though. The ZT 0100 may be a great military blade but I didn't really see a spot for it to fit for my use. It is an amazingly over-built well designed knife. The only time I use a fixed blade of that size though is when I'm out in the woods with a backpack, and it is just too heavy. It would be a great light chopper and do most of the tasks my ESEE does but the ESEE-4 isn't good for chopping. When I need to do serious chopping I've got the 4Runner and an axe. If you have a need though for that sort of knife to fill dual roles the 0100 can't be beat.

i use mine, aggressively. primarily when i do the sierras on backcounty lake hiking/fishing. the sheath is nylon but it has a kydex insert. i don't use it outside of that because i don't carry a 5.5" fixed on my hip anywhere else.

busted wire with it, used it as a step, dig with it all the time; no harm to the blade. even sharpen it up on rocks since an edge pro would take too much room in the pack lol.

if you're not going to use such a great tool, you aught to sell it.

CPM-3V is one hell of a steel.

I've got way too much of my own natural weight to carry when I
go backpacking though from not doing it enough. I could never sell
the ZT though. I should sell the ESEE 5 though. The ZT I'm sure is much
better for extended use with those nicely sculpted handles and based upon
the 0200 (which fits nicely in the sheath front pocket) and the 0300 that I've
used extensively.

Sounds like the ZT is great from what pilote said so take his word over my
speculation. If you are looking for something a bit less hardcore the Kershaw would
be perfect. I liked the look for the engineering drawing grind but the grind on the
release is probably better in use. I like the Diskin because it is quality but not expensive
and feels pretty light. I have large hands and the narrow handle is nearly opposite the
ZT. That ZT is just sooooo nice to hold. I don't know how pilote does it but if you can
comfortably carry the weight or it isn't an issue for your use, and can spare the cash, I
don't think you can go wrong with the 0100. Otherwise we are lucky that there are lots
of other knives out there and a couple other great fixed blades in the KAI lineup.

While I'm at it, I want to put a plug in for fixed blade Skyline. That one I use a lot. If
you are looking at the 0100 you may have zero nterest in it. But I love it. It may just be
me but it fits the hand a bit differently due to flat scales and is very comfortable to use
for long periods sharpening sticks and light use.

The 0100 is a great knife, smaller than I thought it would be but a impressive chunk of steel. Feels great in the hand but Im not a fan of the sheath. I dont know if Id get one just because it does cost a lot, unless your tasks demand the very best.

Keep an eye on the passarounds, one was just done with the 0121 and 0100.

I had my eye on it for quite a long time now. I'm just not sure if I could bring myself to use it, but then, I wouldn't want it to be a safe queen either. Decisions suck!

...be wise with your $$$...$160-200 is a lot of money to commit towards a knife you are reluctant to put in use and/or just stare at...the 100 isn't popular because it's expensive, so not many get one; but it sure delivers in the field.

got a 121 also; that slab of a knife has been a workhorse blade everywhere for me

It was made to be used! I have looked at them and decided should the need arise that I have to have a nice size fixed thats the one I will buy!
