will somebody talk me into buying this knife i have been wanting to buy this knife for awhile now but i still cant pull the trigger, im not sure how big this knife really is ,i have no way of seeing this knife in real, its alot the money to spend on a knife and then not like it, i would like to see some pics with other knives, tell me why i should buy this knife, what do you think should i buy it

Alright Eric, lets start from the top:

You want it. It's really big. It is a lot of money. You will like it.

SO GO AHEAD AND PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!

Then come back here and tell us how much you like it, and why you can't understand why you didn't get it sooner! :D

Can't say for sure with the Carbon Fiber version, but all the other versions with the "battle swedge" grind were hand ground by renowned custom knifemaker Tim Galyean. I'd be surprised if the CF weren't.

Thomas or Tim, any idea?

Also it just looks cool!

It's one of the finest big hard use knives around and probably the least expensive. In the class with Striders and Reeves and with assisted opening, faster to deploy. Go for it!

It's not overwhelmingly big...it's not as big as I anticipated.

Pull the trigger. Ya know you want to...

I don't know about the CF one but the normal G-10 ones are a SUPER value for what you get.

I was going to go CF as well, but decided to go with the 0300 G-10. No thrills needed, this is a tank! (( Hats off to Kershaw ,Ken, and Str.)) Fantastic addition for when I can't wear my normal fixed blade EDC.

Edit- If you're a person who's gotta have all the bells and whistles then buy it with NO REGRETS!

I think it boils down to what you like and the type knives you edc. If you like smaller 3" or less folders then the 0300 is probably not going to be to your liking. On the other hand if you are a real man and like big indestructable knives, then the 0300's should be right down your alley. After all only real men carry a ZT!!!

Here's a quick-and-dirty snap for a size comparison:

SizesNet.jpg

From top to bottom:

Spyderco Military S90V/CF
ZT0300CFBLK
Benchmade HK 14450SBK-701 Auto-AXIS
Kershaw Blur 1670DKGRYST S30V
Spyderco Delica 4 ZDP-189
Kershaw Leek 1660OLBLKST

(...the bulge at the bottom of the photo is my bulge...;))

Hope this helps...the ZT0300CFBLK is a fine knife! One of the most secure-feeling knives in-hand you'll ever use! As long as you can afford it, buy it!

(Of course that last qualifier never seems to stop me...:D)

Ray :)

(Forgive the non-Kershaws in the Kershaw sub-forum...I wanted to provide as much variety as possible...:o)

Dont be a sissy...Buy it now.:).

No better way than to convince a man to do something (he already apparently wants to do) than by calling him a sissy. LOL

Of course you're going to buy the knife now, dint you hear what gman just called you?

Oh yeah, dont forget to tell us how awesome the knife is...you may convince somebody else. ;)

It should be mentioned that there were only 100 of the CF's built. Pretty rare piece if you're into that sort of thing.

Hi, eric1975. I just bought an all-black 0300, but it's the new black G-10 version from ZT, not the special order carbon fiber one that TAD Gear sells. If you're worried about spending so much on a knife that you may not be absolutely wild about, you could (a) buy the standard black G-10 version for a lot less than the one at TAD Gear and (b) buy it from a dealer who has a generous return policy in case you're especially disappointed and want to send it back.

When the 0300 arrives, you may not be absolutely wild about it, but I can't imagine you being disappointed if you like what you've seen in pictures, if you're impressed with what you've read, and if you like solid, bold knives.

To be honest, I haven't been able to carry my 0300 as much as I'd like because I work in a place that wouldn't take too kindly to employees carrying what many would consider to be more of a concealed weapon than a pocket knife. I tried carrying it loose in the pocket of my khakis without using the clip so it wouldn't be visible, but it's just too heavy and large to comfortably carry that way (but I don't doubt that some determined individuals manage to carry it like that!).

As for the size, it's definitely larger than your typical 4-4.6 inch pocket knife (e.g., Benchmade Griptilian, Kershaw Blur), but it's not so large that you can't carry it on a daily basis, though it may take some getting used to. Personally, I don't notice its substantial weight when it's clipped in my pocket. In fact, it's the substantial---but not excessive---weight of this knife that makes it feel so solid and durable.

Not to put down "lesser" knives, but after handling my 0300 for a while, my other smaller pocket knives felt like little letter openers or something. If you already have at least one quality pocket knife in the 4 to 4.6 inch range, but you want a larger, solid, hefty knife with a very secure lock-up, I'd recommend the ZT 0300. I'm quite happy with mine.
