ZT0561 Lock Problem

Just got my 0561 in the mail today, and I'm saddened to say that the lock seems to be out of spec, if I put pressure (not smacking, but hand pressure) on the back of the knife while opened the lock will slip and the knife will close. Contacted my dealer to see if he could send me another one and he said he's out... *sigh* if I send this to warranty how long am I looking to be out of a knife?? Kershaw's site says 4-6 weeks... Dealer said I could get a 0560 instead, but I really like the tan color...

Thoughts??

p.s. this wouldn't be nearly as frustrating if I hadn't just returned TWO HTM Gunhammers for both being faulty, and chose the ZT because I thought it would be reliable and come rock solid...

Cool, maybe you can answer a question for me so I can pack this up tonight... Do I need to include a description of the problem? I don't see a place for that on their form, if you don't know I can call in the morning...

change the subject to: "Warranty Service" and include a description of the problem in the "Message" box on the right. they will probably e-mail you back requesting pics and/or more info tomorrow morning.

I meant on the warranty form, but I sent them a message I'll wait and see what they said. Thank god my CRK Umnumzaan came the same day and I have something else to play with while the ZT is gone...

I've called not emailed Kershaw ZT a couple of times about a problem or a part I had/needed. They've been great.

I'd much rather talk to a person than exchange emails.

About what percentage was the lockup?

Here's what mine looks like, and it's solid:

I tried putting a folded paper between the titanium and stud to make the lock up earlier:

and like that, if I pressed on the back of the blade with one palm and handle with the other, it closes. I got mine used--"pre broken in"--and wonder if playing with new ones a bit will move the lock bar over enough to fix the problem. It shouldn't come from the factory like that of course, but that would make it an easy (and a little bit fun) fix and allow one to skip the hassle of sending it to Oregon. Does anyone have the problem who hasn't sent it in yet?

Mine's on it's way to Kershaw now. My lockup look a bit like that, but for 260$ I want my knife perfect when I get it. For 100$ I'll fuss with it to get it perfect. If you read ZT's mission statement it doesn't allow a lot of room for break-in periods.
