Cleaned up paint enough to read stamping and year. Didn’t know I had a 1942 until all paint was removed from number. Sharpened to clean up edge from crappy job a previous owner did with something that resembled a duller. Definitely wouldn’t have called it a sharpener.

Had to start with a 50 then 100 grit diamond stones to get an even profile top to bottom. Then 140 on up to 1500 were easy and felt less like gravel glued to metal.

AFH made a lot of things for the military, including an impressive number of 16-inch bayonets for the 1903 Springfield. They also fit the Garand rifle, and many were later cut down to 10-inch length.
