This one and its two brothers that are in the works are inspired by, but not copies of, the big knife wielded by Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5. The knife is forged from 1 1/2" x 1/4" 1084 plain high carbon steel, triple normalized, single quenched in canola oil, and triple tempered. The overall length is 18 3/4", with a blade length of 12 3/8". The clip is fully sharpened and will shave hair. The handle wrap is neon orange paracord for the underlay, black paracord for the overlay, and black for the triple strand Turk's head knot, all impregnated with Minwax Wood Hardener. The sheath is Kydex with two MOLLE locks.

I took a picture of it in hand, but I think even this doesn't really convey just how big this thing looks in real life. I don't name most of my blades, but this one demanded it be called Aggression. And I didn't feel like I should argue with it. :D

Thanks!

Frank - I played RE5 just a tiny bit, and it was the knives in it that caught my attention. Although I don't own a game system, I ended up perusing the Interwebz looking for good pictures of the knives. Unlike most video game blades, the RE knives seem to be actually somewhat researched and based at least partially on real-world knives. Chris's knife has a handle that is obviously based on the Mercworx Goliath, but it is withdrawn, swung, and resheathed too fast (unrealistically so, especialy in an over-the-shoulder crossdraw sheath) to really see the blade. Tracking down pics online shows a very different blade, though, with something closer to a Japanese hunting knife, similar to some of Murray Carter's big knives, though some angles show a recurve that makes it look more influenced by Shiva Ki. The flat of the blade is forge finished and there is a hamon along the edge.

Sheva Alomar's knife is more like a giant Nessmuk.

At some point I would like to see if I can make a set of knives as close to the original game designs as I can manage, but in the meantime, this and the other two are inspired by the game's blades.

I would have loved to have made the prop knife for the big screen version of Chris Redfield in the most recent addition to the Resident Evil movie franchise, but they saddled him with a generic machete that he never even drew. :(

Zombies be damned indeed... :D That knife would give them hell for sure.

Great work as usual Storm Crow!

I like it James. Its about time you made a big knife!! :D

Looks good. I really like big knives.

Thanks everyone!

Ben - I think you're being slightly facetious. :)

Mountain Wildman - I once had an older gentleman walk up to my table at a gun show and say, "'Now that's a knoife!' You know..like Kangaroo Jones." I waited until he was well out of hearing to start laughing. :D

Incaorchid - Sure is for sale. It'll be on my table at Blade here in a couple of weeks. (Table 4CC! :) ) The wrap is based off of one I saw on a Mongolian saber handle at a museum exhibit on Genghis Khan a while back.

beautiful. I am a fan of all the RE series except 5 but there is no denying that is one heck of a knife. I would gladly slay many zombies with that one.
Quick question though...How is the balance? Looks like it would be a little front heavy from the pics(in my opinion).

Evilbrojoe - Yep, it's blade-heavy. Kind of hard not to be with a blade that large. :D I don't remember where exactly the point of balance is on it, but I'll try to check on it and let you know.
