that's pretty subjective. most people would say around 7" for all around. SFNO, HR, ASH-1, SHe. though if you want something a little bigger there's the NMSFNO which is awesome, FSH, and harder to find but even more awesome is the Mofo. if you want to go a little smaller, there's the BATAC and the SAR5, or Meaner if you want an EDC sized blade.

as much as i love my HH and HOFSH, i'd probably have to say the NO-e is the most practical all around. still, if i had to pick only one it would be the HOFSH.

for an every day camp/carry knife.. definately an SFNO.. not the new 8" but the old model . with 7" preferably the thicker saber grind blade... the new one is very nice... but I think many were really hoping for the old design.. so if I had to buy one blade. an SFNO, mag handles, saber grind blade. As I was cutting my chicken breast last night with my snfo.. I was thinking " man this is an awesome blade" my wife was probably thinking" what a strange man " but I use it for so many things, I'm never without it. but as I sit here, I think of my skinny Ash, meaner street and sarsquatch... AHHH too many nice blades to pic one..
