BladeForums BEST BOWIE - 2010 Edition - VOTING NOW CLOSED - Finalists Selected

(For me, to openly offer some names, in lieu of others, can look like I'm choosing favorites. :p)

That said, I have one completely unabashed and requisite choice for this thread. Because it's one we worked together on for my collection.

^^ This speaks plenty. :)

This one is sorta borderline 2009/2010. I think it was made late 2009 and really shown in 2010. So let me know if its valid.

^Glad you put that one up Coop.
Saw it in San Antonio and loved it.
Nick's handles are so-so-so right.

You have clearly disqualified yourself and your entry from this contest, as it is not a "Favorite Thread..". :D
in my own selection i cant see the photos.. If they show up?

I like the idea of subcategories too, if only "best new maker" as a footnote.

Lorien needs more work! ;)

There are many very spectacular Bowies in the thread.

Since I own it, my choice is my John White MS Dogbone Bowie, John already posted the Chuck Ward photo.

Here is Coop's version of the same knife. The detail below shows the Turkish Twist Damascus, which won "Best Damascus" at the 2010 BladeShow. The chatoyance in the steel can not be seen in a photo.

I already have SEVEN on my short list.

I was at Coop's place today and he captured some amazing images of these four knives. Enjoy!

This is POST #27

1. Don Hanson III, Damascus Bowie
I first saw this raw blade on Don's table at Blade 2009, love at first sight, classic Hanson flow, now properly finished.

2. David Lisch, Flying Dragon Damascus Bowie
David Lisch and I got to talking at Blade 2010, and here is the sweet result.

3. Sfreddo/Rhea/Tomberlin/Sowell, Ultra Fine Twist Damascus Bowie, ABS Auction Knife Blade Show2010
Be careful when you wander into an auction room, lightening can strike.

4. Jerry Fisk, Damascus Bowie circa 1996?

I actually acquired this one almost two years ago, but just got a proper image done by Coop to post for the first time.

Peter - get over there fast or post what you got - we usually wrap this up between Christmas and New Year's. You already have a pro shot of that collaboration piece - so you can make a start with that and edit in the others as they come. That Lisch is my favourite piece by him to date.

Jon Brand - that's perfectly fine.

I vote for the John White dogbone bowie. That one was my favorite this year and I don't even really like the dogbone style. It was even my background on my computer screen for a while.

when you place your vote(s), please refer to both the post # and to the knife # within that post. Thanks!

What a wonderful piece. Just perfect balance of lines and curves, materials and embelishments.

This is some of the best steel porn ever assembled on the forums. It is very hard to choose from so many premium knives. WOW.

I look forward to this thread each year I love bowies I will spend hours looking at all the fine knives in this thread. I am hoeing Petter gets the fighter I made with him to Coop in time to post it. But I would like to add a few of the bowies I made this year Hear are 4 of my favorites .
