Busses and Whisky

Glad you are all having fun with your whiskey but for me it is way more fun to play with knives while drinking a good tequila.

Hey, this is an old quote, but one thing I know is, it's still valid. So, currently, got any good Tequila for mooching? 😄 Dont be shy, Brag a little!

Had a real special opportunity to experience a one of a kind moment. A friends wife, bottled this for her "Special Bottle" at Heaven Hill some weeks back. A 14 year old wheat dominant barrel strength during a visit recently. It was so damn hot, real scorcher. Burn your tongue off hot. I said "lets add water". Normally I don't get much from adding water, but a few drops from a cap and OMG` this was an exception. This was the most impressive change ever adding a little h2O. Not everyone likes a wheater, I do.
This was like a rich, complex, desert. Heavy on molasses/brown sugar/vanilla. Depth of body was incredible - A once in a lifetime opportunity - Sorry no Busse with me but it's close enough to the "compound" there's Infi dust in the air being just
hundreds of yards from where all that sweetness comes from - probably in the water too after all these years.

My new favorite Whiskey/Whisky is Tamdhu Batch Strength (sorry, Lagavulin, we had a good run, but it's run its course).

Holy Shit! --- What is going on? Are Busse owners on the "Almond Milk" train? ... it's like I don't even know you anymore 😂 ..... But the ones I do know, you'll appreciate this photo of "One Off's" ... Tonight a buddy of mine, who does a lot of travelling through the dirty/dirty south, decided on a "High Proof" tasting this evening... Nothing under 100 I think.... I got fk'd up. Of note, I can see Jerry's porch lights from here. You wouldn't know there's a stash of exquisite (aint no more) bottlings of really impossible stuff in walking distance of the compound. Not like you really need to ever leave there if you found the "stash" .... but most important is, just to be able to appreciate these, would take years of intense study. This is why I'm even allowed to look at his bottles, much less taste them.
But, the winner of the night? a 12yr aged Knob Creek, with a cap of water - and you won't believe what tickles your tongue, you really wouldn't .... To the left of this pic is a stash of at least 16 bottles of Bookers/Little Book that I can't even describe.

BTW, he has 2 bottles of the 18yr ~ we're gonna crack it on his birthday in June... The 12 was mind blowing, can't imagine the 18yr will be in the "sucky" range :)

Anyone ever try Driftless Glen? The past 4 single barrels I've gotten from them have been fantastic.

Holy sht... CS MOAB in one hand, Mc 18 in the other, Pappy23 on deck? ~ I tip my Glencairn to that one! Don't get much more Busses and Whisky that that  Outstanding!
I had to ck who posted it, thought I was looking at one of Cobalts pairings!

Growing up Scottish my dad kept trying to feed me Glenfiddigh single malt, but I couldn't stand the taste.
It wasn't until I tried The Glenlivet that I realized that I was still a good Scot, I just did not care for the
Glenfiddigh products. Although I generally do prefer the Speyside malts. My pride of place goes to a
bottle from the duty free at the Glasgow airport. Balvennie Triple Cask. The odd dram of something smoky
like Lagavulin is appreciated, too.

Throw in the Orkneys and there's something to love from all of them, Campbelltown too. And of them all, a weekend at Glenmorangie would be like a golden ticket to the chocolate factory.

Time to get this weekend started!

I’m about to lose most of you with this, but I don’t care. It happened, and I went to tell someone. I keep my drinking to weekend evenings. On this fine Saturday, I was looking forward to a glass of scotch that was still a few hours away. My girl and I had been talking about how ridiculous the cost of goods had gotten. Specifically food. I recalled a trip to the local grocer earlier this week where we were blown away by the cost of butter. It was ridiculous! We made the decision to wait until our next trip to Walmart or Costco to pick some up. Well, my brain thrives on association. Somehow, it combined the two items into an unrelated word; butterscotch. I laughed at the absurdity. She asked what I was laughing about, and I told her. I assured her it was a silly thought, and I had no intentions of actually doing. As time passed by, I kept thinking about it. The more I thought about it, the less absurd it seemed. I mean, keto people put butter in their coffee. Why not? What’s the worse that could happen? I proceeded to put my scotch in the fridge, and cut some slivers off of a stick of butter. Maybe an eighth of an inch worth in total. Put it around the microwave for around seven seconds (just until melted), then filled the shot glass with cold scotch. Stirred it up, and took a sip. I was quite surprised to find that it wasn’t bad. The butter gave a rich, gentle coat to my palate, followed by a smooth scotch flavor. I won’t be making a habit out of it, but it wasn’t bad at all. If you’re feeling adventurous, give ButterScotch a shot. Let me know what you think! Or tell me you would never, and I’m idiot. Either way, cheers!

Well from a guy that uses PeanutButter as shaving cream I'm not surprised! 😁
