Can't decide between Busse and Strider!

I've been wanting to pick up another fixed blade to go along with my Reeve Pacific and Finish military knife and I can't decide between Busse and Strider. Both appear to offer incredibly strong knives and each has a strong following.

I prefer the handles on the Busse knives I've seen here but I'm more drawn to the blade designs on the Striders I've seen.

ARRRGGGGH!

It's so perfectly balanced I need something to tip the scales in one direction! :D

Busse. Stronger (at same size/thickness) than the Strider. Better handles, way more designs to pick from.

This!! ^
But get a Strider folder.

And that's another option. I've been leaning towards a Strider folder and then a Busse from here on the emporium when I see one I love. They move fast though!

Also, I dig the Swamp Rat knives. I know there's a connection to Busse there but I don't know what it is. Swamp Rat is as strong as Busse? Do I need INFI steel?

No. I'll use it when I need it even if I rarely NEED a large fixed blade at this point in my life. At this price, these are all expensive users to me. :)

Getting a Busse is like getting a Dozier or a Randall, imo, but you have INFI.

I beg to differ and so would many soldiers. Both Strider and Busse are outstanding knives.
I only sold my Strider BT because of the INFI.

Having never owned either one I have to rely on the opinions and experiences of others at this point, but I don't think that this can really be true, can it?

I'm sure that you can rely on either knife if you have to and both have a reputation of superior durability. Heck, my Reeve gets busted on because it's not as durable as either of the knives I'm currently looking at and it's still better than the custom knives I carried back in my Airborne days.

These are ALL great knives. I'm just trying to decide on what to pick up next. :D

Infi is not "magic" but it's the absolute best steel i own. I wouldn't trade my TGLB for any other knife of similar design made today.

If you want the most durable hard use knife your money can buy, you want one made of INFI or possibly SR77/SR101... i just don't think a Strider is going to compete with an INFI knife in that category

Again, i think strider makes a VERY good knife, and i think it will do almost anything you'd ever ask a knife to do, but it's not at the same level as a Busse

Strider vs Infi is really more about CPM 3V/S30V vs INFI (assuming you're looking at a large knife), and that's been explored multiple times here on BF

The general consensus is that INFI outperforms 3v in most categories

And S30V gets no love in large fixed blades

Thanks for the links. :)

I'm pretty sure that I'll end up with at least one of each. I like certain things about each of the knives (and that's also true about my CRKs made with the lowly S30V :D).

I suppose it's just about deciding which to get FIRST. YAY!

You should buy both and give them a workout in the field, keep the one you feel more comfortable with, they both sell fairly fast in the after market once you know which one needs to go.

Busse. Great handles, great steel, and a great company/people to deal with.

Love my Strider but for a fixed blade, I'd get a Bussekin anytime, especially if money is not (much) of an object. I have many fixed blades of quite a few brands, most will serve well in any capacity, but the Busses and its kin are top of the food chain.

Thanks again guys. One other question, are all Busse knives INFI? Is it their standard steel? I'm looking at a used Batac and there's no mention of the steel, but I'd like INFI. :)
