I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to any history of this axe head maker named Grey Gorge or Forge. Years ago we ran an electrical line to the garage and in the trench I dug up an old axe head in the gravel driveway of an old house I lived in. Once I got all the rust off I could barley make out the name Grey Gorge or Forge. The axe head has a large ridge which runs down the middle of either side and then flares out to the blade which gives it a thicker edge appearance.
When the axe head was dug up we also found about 7 or 8 live .3006 rounds which were from 1942 as well as a pin which I recognized as that which holds the clip latch in place on an M-1 Garand. We thought a mechanic must have lived there because there were lots and lots of nuts and bolts beneath the gravel as well. I am especially curious as to when this company existed and when they went out of bussiness selling axes. Thanks in advance. btw can not post pics at this time.
