I'm sure this has been posted before, but I need to hit my Beckerhead eligibility so please consider this "of substance". I'm not asking which you "like" the most. My Q is more along the lines of a plane crash in the Yukon or Alaska, and you need to survive and make it out. You can only have one.

For me the BK2. Heavy enough to chop some with. Stout enough to do a little digging, and baton capable. Compact enough for some smaller tasks. The size would make sure that it was snuggled up good and tight to me.

I'd have to go with the BK-2 as well.

Or maybe Thrillbilly's $1 Wal-Mart special...that thing looked pretty tough.
Or maybe that grey and orange "survival" knife I've been hearing so much about. Having that thing on my hip may well provide the determination it would take to drink my own urine...

BK-2, hands down!!!

BK9 its easier to do little knife things with a big knife than big knife things with a little knife.

there's no such thing as one :) that's bad thinking :)

but i'd say machax :)

BK-2.

Or maybe BK-3, if I have to get out of the crashed plane.

But, the 2 will do that for me also...

Love my BK2, but I would have to go with a BK9 if I was restricted to one. The BK9 is plenty tough for anything I have ever tried to do with it, its not too long, pretty nimble in hand and fairly light weight for something of its size.

BK9 for me. I like the BK2 and have several of them, but mine are getting used less and less since I started using the BK9s around the ranch. For my needs, the BK9 can do all the duties I originally for which I originally bought the BK2, but the BK2 can't do everything I've asked of the BK9...at least not without a hell of a lot more effort on my end.

It's the 7 for me. Light enough to carry anywhere and not become a nuisance, and capable of performing any task that others in the line up are capable of...although not always as well. Even still, it's the 7 for me all the way!

BK2, you can't beat 1/4 thick Cro Van, it's perfect for getting out of the plane and then everything I need it for: Batoning, Done. Feather Sticks, Done. Air Plane Field Dressed, Done. Something to eat, Done.

The one thing it can't do is carve me some pretty looking spoons and forks, not that I can do that either... But it's a nice idea.

BK2. I can exit plane right, start fire, collect dinner, dig up iron and forge some ugly Beckerish wannabes! I just wish I knew where to dig up some grivory or micarta in the bush...

You can just use parts from the airplane, like the foam from the seats, or the handles from the throttle, then you have your beckerish wannabe handles! :D

I would trust my Beast2 to get me to civilization or to survive until rescued, no doubt in my mind about it. Heck, I wouldn't feel too bad about having ''just'' my 14 either, tuff lil SOB!

the BK2 aint got a bottleopener...but I make do

lots of replies for the bk-2...what is that saying, "put your money where your mouth is"? i want to see pics of the bk-2 chopping enough firewood to last a sub-freezing overnighter pretty please :) with your scenario, it can also be below freezing, no tent/sleeping bag/wool blankets when that plane crashes so fire is your only chance for warmth...i'll take the best chopper out of the current line-up, bk-9 for me (even then my chances are really slim). even with a really good wood cutter (15" saw in this case), still not enough wood to barely keep me warm (and i was using a 20 deg bag too!).

i didn't do this for fun...i had to have a fire to thaw out my toes since i was feeling the early onset of frost bite

...maybe with the bk-2 chopping all through the night and day until rescue comes will get me warm enough without needing a fire after all? :D
