Lionsteel T.R.E. K390 special run (1 of 40)
This is a LNIB special run knife of Lionsteel’s T.R.E. done to the designer’s (Molletta) specifications, which includes a blade in K390 steel run at 64.7 Rc.
Only 40 of these knives were made. I got this one directly from Molletta. Comes with box, but no tools — everything that Molletta sent me.
K390 is an A11 class steel, like 10V, that holds an edge incredibly long. It is Bohler’s third-generation, Microclean powder steel, a special process that leaves the steel with fine grain, tiny, evenly distributed carbides and few if any inclusions (imperfections). K390 is Bohler’s improvement of A11 steel, designed to retain the edge-holding performance of A11 while making it much tougher (resistance to chipping and breaking). It is much tougher than 10V.
This from Bohler: “BOHLER K390 MICROCLEAN
Third Generation powder metal tool steel designed as an upgrade over A11. Vanadium reduced to 9% but Tungsten and Cobalt added. Edge retention comparable to A11, but greatly improved toughness. Harden and temper to 64-65 HRC. The best overall tool steel performance for knife blades.”

It will be slow to sharpen without diamonds or other hard material, but the narrow edge width will greatly reduce the time of sharpening. And the edge will stay sharp for a long, long time.
This is a small, ball bearing-flipper knife, with a blade just shy of 3 inches. It weighs just 2.89 ounces. The scales are blue (PVD) titanium. The backspacer is also titanium. The edge width at the shoulders is 0.021 inches, making it an excellent slicer. Factory edge is set at 42 degrees inclusive. If you reprofiled it to 30 degrees inclusive, it would be a laser.
The blade is perfectly centered and there is no blade play.
Price: SOLD $295 [now $235] [now $195] all in. I’ll pay PayPal fees, postage and insurance for USA addresses. Foreign sales add in actual postage. First unconditional “I’ll take it” gets, if followed by a prompt PayPal.
