i picked up this knife today, the SOG Tech Bowie in Satin finish.

i snagged this knife for 130 canadian which i thought was a pretty good price considering i picked it up locally from an army surplus store.

    anyways, onto my question.

i love the weight, heft and design of this knife and was wondering if anyone out there used it as a camp knife for doing small camp chores.

if anyone has some photos or stories to share that'd be awesome.

    cheers,

    JC

Leather sheath for fixed blade knives. Available for the following knives:

    SEAL Revolver
    Hunter Revolver
    Tech Bowie
    SOG Bowie 2.0
    Trident 2.0
    Super SOG Bowie
    Recon Bowie
    SCUBA/Demo
    SOG Bowie Commemorative
    Field Pup
    SEAL Pup
    and NW Ranger.

I guess you only need to name your model.

@ exider, don't pry with your blade, knives are not made for prying and you can loose your tip because of that. That would be pretty sad cause the Tech is a nice and pretty expensive blade. I think you can shop with it without a problem. The knife should handle that unless you use a hammer or so to pound on the back of the blade. I've used the Gov-Tac to slash through light wood and it did a great job on that. But for larger wood I would just use a axe. I don't want to use my knife too hard if I don't have to.

    From SOG Knife Care: http://www.sogknives.com/service/care/
"Remember that knives are cutting tools and blades are very sharp. Therefore, please exercise caution when handling your knife. And, never use your knife as chisel, pry bar, screwdriver or hammer. Do not pound on the back (spine) of the blade."

Bloody Hell, if the only knife you have is a bloody machette when the shtf and you can't adapt, you deserve to feed the worms. Your country has a proud history of of trappers, mountain men and people that have survived some of the harshest conditions in the world. Pick a good quality blade and and learn to do bloody do damn near everything with it. You can kill a man with a bit of broken glass, you can skin an animal with the same bit of broken glass, you can shave timber to light a fire with said broken glass. Get your head together bloke, check famous people that have lived and survived in your countries past. What was their everyday carry. I can skin a 'Roo' with anything I can sharpen,so can you.
