"Sukiyaki Western Django" hamon bowie.

Here's an interesting hamon bowie for you all to look at. It marries Japanese and Western elements, throwing in a pinch of medieval style to boot. (Hence the funky name, an homage to Tarantino.)

The blade is forged, flat ground with a long swedge, and is clay quenched W2 steel. The torii-style guard is forged from old, slaggy wrought iron and etched hard to bring out some fascinating grain patterns. The entire knife is made of ferrous alloys- the handle is a mild steel hollow core wrapped in a single strand of high carbon cable unwrapped from a logging choker, with fabricated stainless steel ferrules. Actually, if you look closely, you can see the tiny brass joints where they were brazed together- so that's the only non ferrous material here.

The finial nut is turned from stainless steel, and secures an etched and simply engraved wrought iron washer in the form of a Maltese cross. The knife can be taken down, if you wan to try it just exercise care not to scratch the stainless parts with the wrought iron. I wouldn't recommend taking it down, the inside of the handle is just pedestrian infrastructure.

The blade is hand sanded to 2000 grit, then etched in ferric cloride and hi-def polished for a fairly opaque hamon with black habuchi and white yakiba.

I made sure to take a pic of a small area where three cable strands separated during the wrapping process. This cable just has small flaws here and there, this is not a structural weakness or a hot spot for hand wear.

Specs are as follows:
.188" max spine thickness
.015" edge before sharpening
2" max blade height
9-7/8" blade length
15-5/16" overall length
Balances at rear guard face
Overall weight probably 24 oz.

Asking price is $500. First come first serve. Now SOLD.

Price includes shipping to 50 states. I will ship around the world; I just ask that in this case the buyer pay the added shipping costs.

Price does not include a sheath, I can provide one at added cost to the customer's taste if desired.

I make knives to the best of my ability and knowledge. I research to find the best materials and methods to use, in order to provide the very best product, in terms of value, durability, performance, and aesthetics. Should you find a knife you have bought from me to be lacking in any of these respects, you may ship it back to me at my expense for a full money-back return.

Should a knife purchased from me fail in materials or workmanship, please ship it back to me at my own expense for your money back in full, or repairs at no cost. It’s your choice.
I will sharpen any of my knives at no cost; however I do ask that you pay for shipping costs for this service.

I am always pleased to hear from any of my customers, past, repeat, potential, or otherwise. Please go to my web site, see "Contact Me" and give me a call. If you have any questions regarding these policies, I'd like to hear them.

Also, if this knife or any other I have made that you have seen looks close to something you would like, or if you would like to talk about an entirely different knife design altogether, please contact me, I do custom orders as well and always enjoy talking about knife designs, whether or not we actually end up doing business.

Thanks guys! I realize that although this knife sold in a few hours when I posted it on the Exchange, I forgot to come edit this thread to reflect that. Thanks for looking, all!
