I have seen throwing knives with "tear drop" style blades and skeletonized handles, some with cord wrapped handles, etc. Ive seen some with spear point blades, etc.

What, in your opinion, is the best shape for throwing?

This is me throwing what i use most of the time: awls with a round point.
They are cheap, perfectly balanced and also rather safe; you can't cut yourself with them while throwing.
I have found these the best way to learn how to throw and i still use them now and then.

The red one is an older version that has been used for more than 15 years, it's a little crooked now so it's not that accurate anymore.
The 2 newer black ones are from a German brand called WIHA and are much higher quality with the steel running completely through the handle.
