I would definitely call that particular one as traditional. Satin is the way to go!!! Does the kick rest on the back spring or does it have a pin that acts like a blade stop? I’m curious.First RCB and the only one that's ever appealed.
I like the knife (after removing the intensely shiny finish in favour of a rubbed satin bolster, shield and covers) and it will certainly get used but its lacking, seems too clinical? Not sure I'd even class it as a Traditional? Thoughts..
Paul I just got one of these and the kick rests on a pin. I have two more and am pretty sure they’re the same. All three of the ones I have come very sharp. Great design you have there. Truly special, concerning the acquisition of the scales.I don’t have it yet, but got some photos of the knife I’m having made. Still a work in progress. Stag was hunted by yours truly.

Yes as mentioned above they have the stop pin but I can’t tell if it’s the kick it’s coming into contact with or whether it’s actually sitting in the sharpening choil? Will, it’s been on the back of my belt at work since I’ve got it, lovely stout blade on it that surely has plenty of life and the satin finish I’ve done is holding up nicely against dings and dinks so far.I like it and it's certainly Traditional. Maybe with use and knocking it about a bit you'll like it more ? Plenty would give it a good home too.

I bought my first opinel a couple of years ago. They are interesting knives with a long history, not to mention fantastic slicers. Like you I had swelling around the pivot, I'm in a humid environment alot (Southern U.S.) btw.
I wouldn't recommend bees wax at all for the joint though. Bees wax is good for a wood seal/protectant from the elements on the outside but absolutely horrible for lubrication.

I was using the smaller one to cut weed barrier and other outdoor activities over the past week. Had to put it on the stone every day for the first few days.
