Visiting Arthur Wright & Son (Pics)

You're right in that it looks smaller than Queen. However, the interior of the building and the equipment looks very similar to my ignorant eye. There's just more open space in between the machines. :D

Wonderful pictures and great to see cutlery still being produced in Sheffield.

Jack, thank you so much for providing this look at an historical Sheffield business! It just proves to me that I really need to order a lambsfoot pattern pocketknife from one of the Sheffield cutlers before they are no longer available!

Regards,
Ron

Thanks for the great tour, Jack. Always enjoy your Sheffield tour threads!

When I visited the Arthur Wright factory a few weeks back, I happened to mention that I had an American friend (Herder) visiting at Easter, and John Maleham, the owner of Wright’s very kindly offered to come in to the factory on Good Friday to show Herder around. Good Friday is a holiday here, and so John was the only member of the Arthur Wright workforce present, which allowed us slightly better freedom of movement. We were also able to talk to John at some length, and he told us a great deal about the history of the business, and of the factory, which goes back to 1798. I am very grateful to John for taking time away from his family, and his gardening, to show a US visitor around

Of course I took a few snaps, and hopefully Herder will chime in at some point to add to this thread :)

I’ll post up the pics I took, and please feel free to ask any questions you have  Unfortunately, the new forum software won't allow me to post more than a small number of pics at the same time, so for me, this may be the end of threads like this. I'll do what I can.

(Lots more to come)

Jack, great post and I really enjoy the pictures, looks like they are producing some nice knives.
