The Discovery Channel has some very interesting survival shows. On the Dutch television they broadcast the shows ‘Hunting Chris Ryan’ and ‘I shouldn´t be alive’. Both about people how survived life threatening situations.
Hunting Chris Ryan is the show where Chris Ryan, a SAS vetaran how E&E’ed 8 days in Iraq, gets dropped in very rough terrain and has to complete a SAS-military-style mission while a ‘’hunting-force’’ is chasing him. I is filmed from the jungle of Honduras till frozen Siberia. The show sometimes really becomes life threatening because of health problems like frostbit and severe hydration.
I Shouldn´t Be Alive tells the real life survival stories from a shipwreck till a Alaska mountain climb trip that goes bad.
Both are really interesting if you like to learn what and what not to do on a simple trip. So if you are interested in this material just google it. So both are, next to the Ray Mears shows, my favourite (outdoor) TV-programs. Well MotoGP and TopGear are all right to!
