At the recent BLADE Show, Rodrigo Sfreddo, presented me with a magnificent
Full Integral large Damascus fighter with an ebony handle and gold inlays.
We named it "Magnifique".
Turket pattern Damascus made of 01 and 15N20 steels.
Leather sheath with elephant skin inlay.
Blade length 10 1/4” (260 mm), overall length 15 1/2” (394 mm).

Here is how it will be displayed in one of my next books.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

I consider myself very fortunate just to have seen that piece in person. It is most aptly named. congrats ddd!

What a spectacular piece. All the elements flow so well that there is ease in looking at it until the complexity hit me and then I keep looking at the elements individually in awe at the construction. I mean, seriously, how the heck does he get a wire inlay to lie perfectly and in proportion, not only on a "fluted' (reverse fluting?) handle but from the blackwood to the damascus?

aptly named to say the least.

Thank you for posting this incredible knife and congratulations to both of you my friends.

Wow! The construction and overall design of that piece is magnificent indeed.

And I usually don't like damascus, but this is one of the few instances where I find the damascus pattern interesting.

I was lucky enough to see this at Blade.

It is a beautiful knife with a spectacular Damascus pattern.

Sfreddo never ceases to amaze, the keyhole approach and the carving are interstellar !

An absolutely stunning piece by the best of the best making damascus today. Can't imagine anyone not being thrilled to own this one.

No adjectives left to describe it! Each piece better than the last . . . how can it continue??

But it always does!! Maestro Sfreddo.

congratulations David. That is truly an incredible piece of work.
You gonna do a book on Sfreddo one day? Definitely a worthy subject!

Hello Guys! Thank you for all the great comments, so kind as always. This is for sure one of the most complex knives I made to date, I could have made 3 full integral bowies of turkish damascus during the time I spent to make this one, Just the damascus forging took me one week of work. The initial damascus bar was assembled with 150 small squares of steel composed of two twisted bars and two laminate bars each, plus the laminate and twisted bars on the edge and back edge. My initial idea was to cover all the handle with gold wire inlay, but time was running short, and I had to reduce the amount of inlay to complete the knife in time for the Blade Show. There's always something I would like to have made different, or better, but I'm glad with it.
Thank you David for posting it here, and thank you guys for seeing it.

All the best!
