So they took in something that you bought on the secondary market and then honored the warranty by returning that knife AND sending you a brand new one? Did you want them to mow your lawn and take you out to dinner too?

Who cares about the why? You're assuming the previous owner didn't abuse or modify or otherwise cause the damage, and they're assuming the issue was due to improper use. Sounds like both parties have theories that they can't prove are true.

I can't believe getting a free brand new knife is cause to rant about anything other than how great it was that they were so generous.
