Is there a chart that compares this steel to others ?

Is it similar to Ka-Bar 1095 Carbon steel ?

I don't have a chart, but from my experience, it holds an edge much better than the 1095 steel that Kabar uses. I've heard that it's similar to the Carbon V that Cold Steel uses, but can't say from experience.

I haven't seen it in chart form, but it is a more sophisticated alloy than 1095. As I recall the original name for 1095 is "improved plow blade steel". This gives you the idea that it is a tough and wear resistant alloy. It is basically iron with .95% carbon in it. On the other hand 0170-6c is more of a tool steel. It contains additional alloying components like vanadium to help it take a more refined edge and keep that refined edge while cutting harder material. It is a little like the O1 tool steel that was very popular with custom knife makers like Randall before they went more to stainless. You can probably harden 0170-6c a couple Rockwell points higher than 1095. If I was going to use my knife as a crowbar I would go for 1095 (or 1084), but since I use my knife for cutting I would much rather have 0170-6c.

On one post it was compared to "A2" tool steel and another compared it to, between 50100 and 52100 alloy steel, which has some chromium and molybenum, I think. So Will or Dexter...whats the big secret, what is this stuff....and what Rc hardness are they finished to? Thanks,

Not sure what hardness it is heat treated to, I'm guessing in the 55-58 Rc range. 0170-6C is a steel that is exclusive to Camillus and you are correct by saying that it is compared to A2 in performance. Even I don't have much info on this steel as it is kind of a proprietary formula. From what I have experienced first hand, it is a steel that is aggressive, excellent edge holding characteristics, good impact resistance, yet easy to sharpen.
