0200 and 0301 in My Hands!

Well, I finally got my 0200 and 0301 in my hands! I got them both at the same time after reading through everyone's posts and doing a lot of research. I couldn't decide which one to get so I got both! Now I realize they are both entirely different animals. One feels more like a "slasher" in the hand and the other feels like a "stabber" (sorry for the graphic wording).

I can honestly say that kershaw has really won me over with their ZT line. These two knives feel organic and alive in the hand - that's how good the ergonomics are. I have been a buyer of BM and Spydies forever and then switched to customs but the ZT line has really, really made me a big fan for the value, design, and qualities the knives offer. :D

So which is my favorite - the 0200 and the 0300? Again, both are different. The speed safe and the Ti handle on the 0300 is a great combo but there's just somethings SO satisfying to the smooth opening followed by the loud "thwack!" of the 0200 blade locking open.

Another thing, one small thing that may not have been mentioned in the other posts about the 0200 - the liners don't have the laser cut marks one would see in the steel/Ti liners of other knives. A small but nice feature in the fit and finish of the knives.

Next, the 0500 Mudd or the 0100... KERSHAW, please come out with more models in the ZT line! Maybe something larger?

If different is what you want you definitely want the 0500. I have owned all three and I couldn't imagine one knife company making more radically different knives in a smaller sub line. The weird thing is that you really grow to like them all about equally as well once you start to appreciate the differences. Enjoy your new toys.

I have a pair of the ZT 0200 (plain-edge & combo-edge), and I REALLY love those knives! They fit my large hand perfectly, and have the feel of a very solid tool. If I were stuck somewhere, the ZT 0200 is THE folder that I'd want to have with me, and since I carry one on a daily basis, I would have it with me anyhow.

I'd LOVE to have both a "mini" version, as well as a "magnum" version, but so far, Kershaw hasn't produced those two...(And I doubt if they ever will.:(.).

Hehehe,......that model doesn't "officially" exist,......yet! But there IS a prototype out there.............:D

I'm going to go counter-culture here and vote for the 0100 over the 0500. Reason one: I want one more. Reason two: it seems like no one here has one for reasons unknown to me (price tag aside, though I'm sure the price is justified)

Being hardened steel and working as a labor of love on my own knife,.......i spent around 4 hours doing it cutting freehand off a trace line, using a jewelers flexable shaft machine and a stone cutting disc. Followed that with some finish polishing.

...but especially now i simply don't have much free time to do the things i'd like to do,......like play my acoustic guitars,.........and REST! :D

I work six days in a coin store,.....and the high gold & silver prices have made me have to work long hours there,.......upwards of 70 hours a week. I'm beat when i get home,......crash is more like it. (notice how i haven't been around much over the last 3 or 4 months?)

We used to go to the gold & silver refinery every 5 to 6 weeks,......but with huge volumn coming in from dealers and the public we go down about every week or 8 days. Everything has to be processed, and that takes time.

So sorry to say that each will have to tackle this one on their own,.....of have STR or one of the other handy types to get it done for you. I'd be glad to ship mine out to STR to follow my basic outline,......but it probably wouldn't be necessary. Somewhere on this site i posted some pics and some fairly explicit instructions on what i did,.........so a search should turn that up also.

.........someday i hope Kershaw takes me up on my offer to send it out their way if needed,........to get an official mini done at factory level.

........so far no one has contacted me on it though. It's one of my favorite projects to date, however.

how much would it cost you to do another Snub-Nosed ZT 0200? if i supplied the 200?:)

Yah, I've been wondering what happend to you. It's good to know that you are ok. I'm still waiting for a Mini-ZT 0200, but it doesn't look like I'll ever have one.:(.
