0450 or north fork?

Okay so I’m on the market for a new edc folder. I am mostly working on lawns and gardening during the day but also want something I could wear in slacks and it not be too noticable. I am really considering either the ZT 0450 or the benchmade north fork. Any suggestions

I've had both, and kept the North Fork. My uses were slightly different than yours. I work in an office and found that the wood scales and drop point of the North Fork, along with it being easier to open two handed received less attention than the Ti scaled flipper with the very pokey point.

They are roughly the same size, but I found the 0450 to ride a little easier in the pocket because it is a slimmer knife, both top to bottom and side to side. That said, the North Fork is a little more comfortable in actual use because the slightly thicker handle gives a little more horizontal real estate in the hand to diffuse any point pressure.

Ultimately, they are both great knives.

Haven't owned a North Fork but it's always been on my want list.

I do own a ZT 0450cf and have to say it works great for an office EDC. I rarely carry it on the weekends or any other time I'm not at work so can't really vouch for it's effectiveness doing lawn/gardening tasks but don't see why it wouldn't work.......

0450 was a little cramped for my hand so I might be biased, but I wouldn't recommend it for yard word. The Northfork would be more appropriate IMO. If you want a little of both worlds, check out the Mini Crooked River. Couple good deals on the Exchange right now for one.

I have a 0450 and really like it for "around the city" carry as I can't imagine it being used for hard tasks.
An office enviroment would be perfect for it. Its super light.
I don't like wood so the choice would be easy for me :)

I owned an 0450 and didn't care a ton for it. Looks great in photos but just too slim and small for my purposes. I'd go with the Northfork.

Haven't handled the North Fork, but I have a 0450, and I genuinely do not like it. Too small handle, not really slicey... I only keep it around for the fidgetability

I think the 0450 is ZTs best offering currently available, if you like slim light knives it is the way to go. I have moved away from modern folders to traditionals but still edc my zt0450cf every day To give you some clue of how much I love mine. There are only 2 negatives I can come up with:

1. It is S35vn, not a huge negative, it’s a respectable steel that will serve you well. S35vn (and S30v) are just not my favorite steels. But it beats the north forks S30v imo.

2. It will ruin you for other flippers, It is the best flipper I have ever owned. Not exactly a negative...

One other thing to consider, is with the ZT you won’t be playing QC roulette and praying you get a good one.

That is a really fair point about hoping. I’ve got handled benchmades that are horrible and some that are great
