Hi all, well time has come, and I bought my very first slipjoint off Amazon. Thing I'm wondering is I've been searching for reviews/videos on this particular Case knife, and having trouble coming by any. Was wondering the basics on(steel, edge retention, how sharp out of box, etc) and mostly wanting to make sure it's not a rip off.

For reference(and sorry if this is not allowed) the specific knife I bought was (( deleted link to non-paid BF dealer ))

Your inbound peanut has a jigged derlin (synthetic) handle and Case's "Tru-Sharp" stainless steel. It is not a rip off. As long as the fit and finish are up to par you're getting a good little knife. I'd expect resonable out of box sharpness. As to edge retention, this really is going to depend a lot on what you're cutting. For light to medium tasks you should be just fine. Enjoy your first slip joint.
