0550 question

My 0550 came in today this knife is sweet. Everything I expected and better. Mine was a low serial number in the 0050's I guess this is a good thing? Does that mean my knife was one of the first off the press?
 
I've had mine a few weeks it is #610.

My 0550 is way smoother and has better fit and finish than my 0551. The 0551 is soooo stiff very had to open and close. 0550 is smooth as silk.

I got mine like a week or two after it came out from Kershawguy and it is #264 who knows how or when they ship them out. I would assume that the lower the number the earlier the date of production.
 
Got mine at kershawguy (dot) com, #0237 which is cool because my birthday is 2/7 and brother's is 2/3!

Favorite knife ever, but have an Alias II Damascus coming tomorrow from bladeHQ :D
 
I was surprised that I got one with such a low SN. I ordered last Friday and received it today in the mail. I figured most low SN would have been sold already as the 550 seems to be quite a popular knife right now. I think I might get on the preorder list for the 560 next...
 
550 is regular production. The 551 was a limited run. The main (or only difference I think) is the 551 uses ELMAX for the blade steel whereas the 550 uses S35VN. And they have different patterns on the G10 scale

Not quite the only difference. Thomas stated that they made quite a few refinements in the 550 compared to the 551.
