Ok, I know I have another thread on this but I will close it so I can get more specific advice. I have the opportunity for either a 0561/0560 OR The GB and Sage 1 Combo. I once had a 0550 that I got rid of just because I didn't use it very much and it was a little heavy. I have wanted a GB for a while and the sage 1 is mildly intriguing to me. The reality of the situation is that any of these knives will have a hard time kicking my para 2 out. That being the case, would you get a 0560/0561 OR a GB and Sage 1 combination? Future trade value is a factor but joy of ownership and some use is possible. It would be nice to have a sage 1 for dressy occasions. What do you all think?

I would say without question 0560. I have had a lot of knives from benchmade, spyderco, zt, microtech (no crk or strider yet) and I can say my 2 must have no way I. Ever trade or sell them is the pm2 and the 0560.

I would go for the 0560 but if you don't have any knives for dressy occasions go for the spyderco duo,
your good either way

The 0560 and 0550 are both listed as 5.8 oz, so if you didn't like the weight of the 550, there's no point in getting a 560.

Kreole, that is kinda what I was thinking too but the added size and design (ergos, etc.) of the 0560 may give the appearance of lightness in the hand. Would that be accurate?

I would normally say buy the GB+Sage, but since you already have a Para 2 then those other 2 are somewhat redundant so I would say buy the 560 since it is so much different.

If you didnt like the 550 due to size/weight, not sure why you want the 560/61. Same. GB is a great hard use knife that will get the same job done, but the ZT is just a beast mode knife. And I mostly own Spyderco's. GB has the M4 and the CF which is really nice on it too. Cant give feedback on the sage as I do not own it. Just my .02

For some reason or not My 560 finds it way in to my pocket more than most of my EDC blades. The 560 is the bigger brother to the 550 but they keep it light by milling out the liners and Ti slab side, and its a great fliper. For more casual times I go for the sage 2 or my plain Jane sebensa. Something about the Sage line of Spyderco's that I like, S30V lightweight great blade size and full flat grind. Its made in the TAIWAN but you would never know it Fit and finish is spot on . Have you looked in to the LionSteel SR-1 those are very cool knives around 5.5 oz and have a nice low ride pocket clip.

I've got a Gayle Bradley and really like it. I've also been wanting the 0560 but it's way more expensive than the GB and I'm not sure I really like titanium framelocks. I don't carry my Sage 2 much anymore since I got a GB.

It's a personal decision so look at videos and pictures of the knives, compare their specs, and pull the trigger on one.

I have all of these knives you have currently mentioned in you're OP. the gayle Bradley is a great blade, but If you have an issue with the weight of the 550, then you'll probably not like the Gayle Bradley. The sage is completely different then all these knives mentioned. It serves as an amazing smaller sized EDC that's light and carries easy! A great companion with any knife.

The 560 is awesome because it's really light for how big it is. It's very versatile and can pretty much do any task big or small, not to mention it carries great! Either way you'll like what you get. And yes the para 2 will be hard to kick out of you're pocket, but a sage goes quite nicely with the para2 :)

but a sage goes quite nicely with the para2

OK since you have more experience than I have, how does the size of the Sage compare to the size of the Para 2? I know it is slightly shorter but it seems that the height and weight would be similar and just the length would be a bit different. Is there enough length difference to really make a difference in carry? I am willing to carry a Para 2 everyday, so under what circumstances would I want to carry a Sage?

Both the Sage and the GB are made in Taiwan. The ZT is USA.

I feel you should include that in the decision process.

Yeah, I'd worry about where the clothes you clip it to were made too.

One of these days, everyone will just admit that the GB is nicer than the ZTs...

Seriously, though, it would be great to see pictures comparing the two.

Honestly, I don't care where it is made, I have heard enough GREAT things about the fit and finish. I think I have decided however to go with the 0561 only because I have a para 2 and just traded for a manix 2 XL, I think it is time for another ZT instead of 2 more spydercos. And not for nothing, if I still want a GB, it will be cheaper to buy that myself. The $250.00 all has to be spent at once.
