0560 is my first flipper, catching my thumb with flipper when closing...

The 0560 is my first flipper and I find that when I go to close it I'll often catching my thumb (across the Thumbnail actually) on the flipper but I assume that this is just a matter of getting the muscle memory use to the moment of opening and closing the knife. I recall years ago when I first received my new BM 630BK1 Skirmish that I'd sometimes catch my thumb on the recurve blade as I was closing it...with a little practice this never happened again...this is probably the same type of issue. Anyone else catch their thumb at first when closing a new flipper? F.Y.I, I have normal size thumbs :D

At first I thought the 0560 was difficult to open right handed when using just the thumb studs but once I switched it to my left hand it flew open as fast as can be and was extremely smooth...SO obviously I was unknowingly applying pressure on the lock-bar while trying to push the thumb stud forward. With my A.G. Russell Acies this was also an issue until I switched the clip for tip up carry and that allowed you to grip the clip with your pinky while opening the blade without applying any pressure on the lock bar.

I'm blown away by the 0560, I can't think of another folder that I own that gives you SO much for the money...this is extremely impressive.

Take care guys and enjoy your weekend!

I think that is the added benefit of the flipper. Just imagine what would happen if that flipper wasnt there to catch on your thumb.

Maybe I haven't explained it well...this happens while closing the knife, when I'm using my thumb to push over the lockbar to make room for the blade to rest back down into the scales. If the flipper weren't there I'd have more room to get the thumb out of the way before the blade hit it on its way down into the scales. This isn't a matter of my hand sliding forward and the flipper preventing my hand or thumb from moving over onto the blade. This is when I close the knife.

I was just wondering if anyone else had to get use to this with their first flipper. I understand that one one gets accustom to opening and closing the knife muscle memory will take over and i'll no longer even have to think about it.
Thanks.

I have the same issues with my 0200. The flipper hits my thumbnail when the blade is a 145 degrees when closing.

As stated, that to me is the safety feature - especially with the KVT system where at first you find that you need to relearn how to manage the blade when closing it because of how easy it rotates.

Flipper catches my thumb as well, but a non-issue. It's not like I'm slamming it down hard. It's good to know that there is that check, or safety feature.
