I bought a Kershaw Tilt when they were brand new and I love the thing. I think the Tilt is one of the most amazing production knives of all time, and I use mine all the time. I bought an 0560 as soon as I saw them coming out because of how excited I was when I saw them hitting the street. The one I got had the wimpiest detent, to the point of it being a problem, and lock rock so I sent it back to ZT with a note. A few weeks later I get it back, and it has a detent that is waaaay over the top, still has some lock rock and the lock bar is extremely difficult to disengage (probably the reason for the detent problem)...

Maybe I'm just being a picky customer, but for a knife that costs as much as it does I would have expected a lot more. My Tilt is easier to flip and has 0 blade play. I'd like to return it, it's hardly been used, but I've had it for a while now and it probably won't be taken back. I'll probably just have to sell it.

I'm sorry Kershaw/ZT, I really wanted to like it, but I didn't :(

Alright. Alright. I didn't know if more people had experienced my problem or not. If you think they'll get it right if I send it back again, I'll give it a shot.

It's worth a shot to send it back again. When I first got mine it also had a strong detent and the lock bar was tough. Fortunately the lock bar broke in, but I've learned to live with the strong detent.

I bought it before I'd owned anything really thick before. Since then I've found that I'm a fan of the thinner blades rather than the chunkier ones. Even if the guys at ZT get it right, it's probably getting sold anyway.

Selling it with lock rock would be difficult, at least I know I wouldn't buy it. So you may as well send it back again. As to the Tilt I have two and one has a very strong detent the other doesn't. I don't mind either way myself, the easy to pull one just doesn't have the blade speed when opening of the harder, but they both open and lock up just fine. My 560 flips easy and locks up solid, unlocks easy.

The detent is hard for them to zero in as everyone has a different preference where they want it. The lock stick is common on titanium frame locks and can be corrected very quickly using the sharpie trick. Are you sure it is actual lock rock you are experiencing? Look closely at the lockbar cutout when you rock it, these knives have slight lockbar flex that makes it possible for you to get similar results as lock rock. It has been present on every 056x I have ever handled but normally I can only make it happen if I grab e blade near the tip and push down with some decent force, and even then it is so minimal a normal person would never notice it... Only knife nuts like us. Also your lock stick will go away as it breaks in, the sharpie trick just stops it while the knife is breaking in. The 056x series knives are the most amazing things on the market anywhere near their price range.

You're not alone. But based on a poll I ran recently, you're in the minority around here. Welcome to the light side . . . :)

I guess I am lucky. Both my 0560's were perfect out of the box as were both my 0551's, and 0301. All centered, secure, great lock up, and F&F. It s*cks that you have to send it back again, but I am sure they'll make it right.

I've seen 0561's that also have a really hard detent, to the point where it kinda hurts to actuate the flip. And forget trying to use the thumb stud....

Sounds strange, but maybe try tightening the body screws, including the pivot screw before sending it back. My 561 came with a tad of blade play, so I tried tightening everything and low and behold it went away. Obviously the pivot you have to test and see what amount of tightening works best.
