Gentlemen
Has anyone forged 06 steel, I like the formulation of it, not to much of anything but carbon, since I can no longer get W2, this one looks good, I am to receive some in a few days, but before I light up, it would be nice to know if anybody has worked with it.

O6 contains graphite particles; I'm not sure how that will work out for the forging process. It would probably make a pretty good stock removal blade though.

W-2 can still be had. There are a couple places still offering it. do a web search on it. I never tried O-6, but I also thought it looked prommising.

If you have any questions about forging 06 you can try contacting Brian Lyttle (www.lyttleknives.com). I know he has forged some in the past. He's very knowlegeable in this department.

What I've heard about O-6 its not worth your time to try and make a knife out of.

Dan Dennehy forged O6 for many years,
and made some very respectable knives.

O6 can do it, but I'd sure put O1 ahead of it. That's just me though
