I have an AR with a EO Tech on it now and I want to move the EO Tech to my new FN SLP and I would rather not buy another EOTech because I am thinking I want a scope that's good for close in and has a little magnification for intermediate range shooting. Any recomendations? I can't exceed the $400 mark

Man...there are so many in that price range. A lot depends on how you plan to mount it. If you have a flattop than any name brand would do a good job. Leupold, Nikon, Weaver, etc.

here is one I am going to use on the AR I am currently building: http://www.centuriontactical.com/ar-15-14x.htm It has illuminated reticle, BDC, QD mount...just about everything I want on the one I am building.

Looks like an interesting scope........but it doesn't say who makes it, the country of origin or if it is waterproof.

Do you have any additional information on this particular scope?

Thanks!

Yes, please, any additional info on this scope would be appreciated. It seems to be just what I'm looking for also, but it also seems a bit too good to be true at that price.

My thoughts exactly, but if Absintheur (sorry about the spelling) would use it himself thats ggod enought for me, he knows his $hit!!

I just picked up a Millet DMS 1-4. Haven't shot with it yet, but it seems like a nice choice so far.

yeah, how do they hold up and such????

have you tried one yet?

In this case I am going with the company not the scope manufacturer. I have bought a number of times from Centurion and their lifetime warranty means just that, they have replaced items for me that were in use for over 3 years. Not sure who makes the glass for them, my guess would be somewhere in the Far East (where the majority of scope glass comes from). But I do know and trust the company, they will exchange or refund if you are not happy. I have a couple of friends using their scopes and they are happy so I am willing to take a chance, tho I would bet I will be happy with it.

It has the features I want and currently I cannot find another scope with all of the features. I can find higher price scopes with some of them but this is the only one that has the illuminated reticle, BDC, power I want, QD mount...it is what I was looking for. It will be going on a lightweight build, Cavalry Arms Lower, old pre-ban Colt upper, the carrying handle will be cut and a scope mount installed by JD Jones like my shorty was done so I will retain the original sights but have a flat top mount. Should end up with an AR in the 4.5 pound range.

The Mil-Dot...with the BDC the range finder isn't as necessary neither is the sniper. The Mil Dot will help with crosswinds and I keep a rangefinder in my range bag.

I hope that scope works for you, but not knowing if it's waterproof or even fog proof, I'll let you buy one first !

I hope you keep us posted with your experience with it.

let us know how it works out for ya, i've been bitten with cheap scopes too many times to take chances lol,

I might take a chance on this one. As rrg stated above, Absintheur knows his s**t. I wish I could see a close up of the sniper reticle (I've never seen one before). I'm wavering on the rangefinder vs the mil-dot. I don't carry a rangefinder on me, so that reticle might come in handy. Dunno yet. I'm probably going to jump on it later this month. I can post my impressions then, if anyone's interested...

As I said I am trusting a company I have done a good bit of business with, when I had the store open it amounted to 3-4 thousand a month at times. They didn't get to be a successful company refunding money. If it was a bad product they wouldn't sell it. If I do get a lemon...I have had Leupolds that were lemons in the past, I know they will cheerfully replace it or refund if I so desire.

I wouldn't get the range finder...don't really care for that style, if you want a range estimating device go with the sniper reticle as it can be used as one as well.

OK, but is the sniper reticle too busy for snap shooting? Looks like it has a bunch of clutter taking up the reticle. I can shoot pretty well with mil-dot. Just wondering if the sniper reticle would be worth the trouble.

it may not be a bad product just not a heavy duty product that will stand up to abuse and rain in the field, i have a few scopes which are ok for lite use but not hard use. just depends on how ya intend to use the thing, in what conditions/etc.

i have seen plenty of bad products for sale regrettably.

hope it works out for ya.........let us know how it does, it is kinda neat for the $$.

I have shot rifles with that type of reticle, you tend to ignore everything but the crosshairs as they are what you focus on. At least I do. On my shorty AR the iron sights can be used through the body of the dot sight but if I focus on the dot I don't see them at all.

Mine arrived yesterday and today went to the range. My AR upper is currently being reworked for scope mount so I was unable to test it on an AR but instead put it on my FN/FAL. I figure if it will hold under .308 recoil then .223 won't be a problem.

Mounting was simple, just a matter of a few minutes in adjusting the QD mount tightness...literally took under five minutes. The instruction are excellent btw. They also include an extra battery which is nice.

The battery is the same as all of my dot scopes use so it simplifies things a bit. Once mounted where I wanted it for eye relief I did my standard sight in at one hundred yards. I then perform a box in all direction by shooting 1 round, move the adjustment 4 clicks right, fire a round, moved 4 clicks up, fire a round....etc till I had made a box and the last round was right back to dead center. Then I used the BDC to raise the impact from 100 up to 500 and back down firing 1 round at each 100 yard change, again it held zero perfectly. Next I turned on the illumination and tried groups at each intensity setting, again no faults found. Next was testing the mount. I fired a group then removed the scope, did this 5 times and the zero held. I am impressed with this scope, especially considering the cost. I wish they made one for .308 with BDC but I am happy with the FN scope that normally lives on my FN/FAL.

In short this is a bright clear scope with positive adjustments (windage turret is a target type to allow for crosswind adjustments). The mount is repeatable and it holds zero fine. As for it being "Chinese junk" I would say it as good a quality as most US made scopes. China no longer means cheaply made in many things, their quality is excellent in many areas...I doubt many people own things without Chinese parts in them. China is fast becoming a top class manufacturer in many arenas.

Please pardon the shaky photos of the cross hairs, they are of the mil-dot variety and are the type I am used to so they worked well for me.
