1/4" Micarta or CF tubing?

Looking for some sort of black-colored tubing to use for thong hole liners, like a black Micarta or carbon fiber. Short of buying arrows (are they even 1/4"?) is there a source? Or G-10, as long as it's black. The material isn't important. Any ideas, or are arrows the way to go?

Why not use some normal tubing and treat it with a blackening or blueing agent? I am not real sure but I would think that an arrow is just an aluminum shaft that has been anodized, so as soon as you cut it it will no longer be black.

Texas Knifemaker's Supply has some Micarta tubing. But they don't mention what color it is.

it was my thought that CF arrows were strait fiber tip to tail i dont think it would work well for thong hole
btw i am a noob here but i did shoot archery back in the day, not sure if things have changed much carbon arrows had just been making it big before i got in the corp and stoped shooting bow

I think the tubing from TKS is "natural." I just want black tubing, don't really care what the material is...

I used the end cuts from arrows all the time. the work great. Try your local archery shop and and for the end cuts of cf arrows. I usally get at least a couple handfulls of 4-6 inch pieces. I have never had to pay for any because the are bascily scrap for them. Only thing that is a bit of a pain is the fact that they are an odd size. so you may need to get a new drill.

Hey. I buy 1/4" black micarta tubing from TK and drill hole in it. Drill small pilot hole, and step up. Go slow.

Gene, I thought about doing that, but it seemed like a PITA if I could buy the real thing first. Doesn't seem like it's readily available, so I'll probably have to end up doing that. Thanks!

By drilling out the black micarta rod you will be able to control how thick the side walls will be.Install it in the handle first.Drill a small pilot hole from both sides to start.When it is lined up,drill out with successively larger drills.Smooth out with abrasive cord.Buff hole with cotton cord charged with polish.You could use anything that is drillable to do this,perhaps ebony as a thong hole liner?
