1/4" Satin Jack

If I knew where to find some general purpose combat, I could give you an answer. I like my 3/16" Mud Razor a whole lot.

I can't see any obvious advantage to the Satin Jack unless you consider small size an advantage.

With a steel as good as INFI, I think thinner is probably better.

Every one will have their own opinion, that's mine.

My point is that combat isn't "general purpose".

As for enlisting, I'm like Oddball in Kelly's Hero's:

"We see our role as essentially defensive in nature. While our armies are advancing so fast and everyone's knocking themselves out to be heroes, we are holding ourselves in reserve in case the Krauts mount a counteroffensive which threatens Paris... or maybe even New York."

I just dont think jerry has made a better general purpose combat knife then the 1/4" satin jack.

'Trope,

If you want my opinion on that, send me a copy of that blade and I'll stick it in my kit if I happen to end up in the sandbox early next year.

(I do see one on e-bay. It's already about $300 with almost 2 days to go...probably going to end up out of my price reange.)

Jax

Who do you know that would like the 1/4 inch thick Satin Jack?

Hmmm, me for one, if I didn't already have 2, and wasn't currently broke.

It's, as I've heard it referred to here on the forum, " a souped up Kabar."

I've got a flat ground and a ZT ground SJ, I really like the extra weight on the ZT grind, it's almost 1/4" all the way to the tip !! I like clip point bowey style grinds.

The added weight makes up for some of the lack of size for chopping. It's ok around the kitchen, and I've found it a good camp knife. It's almost identical in size to my Ek M-5 , just fatter.

Works for me

Hehe, actually it's one of my, if not my favorite Busse. I quoted 360 because he's well aware of my affinity for the 1/4 inch Jack. I should have put a wink smiley after my comment. Heh. ;)
