The static kit didn't have working hatches or anything on the inside.
I figured before I go making too many changes to the outside, it atleast had to have
a engine compartment to look into.
The hatches are original, I just made the cast-in hinges work by drilling them out.
I'll make better ones later. The 6 cyl. Mayback engine is as close as I can get going
by the pics. I could find online.
I'll get better pics. outside tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Very nice work! Kitbashing sure is fun, especially when it looks right. What material did you use for the block?

The block is wood. A 2X4 provided the core of the motor and tranny, plus
a nice stable platform to add to.

In the bottom pic. you can still see part of the 2X4 sticking out past
the pullies and belts (not done yet).

I made some locks to replace the poorly done one that came with the kit. I'll make up
some fittings and hinges to dress them up later.

Excellent work! I never got into aged painting, I mostly did P-51's (all variants) and cars for static models. Curious about your techniques, I might try that on my next kit. My flying models always got flashy paint jobs.
