Need some help please finding a 1/8" female coupler that accepts the Koolmist Portamist 60M18, or hearing an alternative/modified setup you have used. I found one 1/8" female npt online, assumed it would work fine, but bought one on eBay and it's not fitting properly. Cross threading. Anybody have this issue? I've added a few photos. If anyone bout a specific 1/8" female npt that worked with this unit, please let me know where you bought it.

I'm unclear what type of part you are looking for

Is it a 1/8" NPT female - female coupling ?

I've had pretty good luck at my local home depot stores
they have a section of Watts brass fittings

Or
You can buy a 1/8" npt tap
and make whatever manifold or coupling you want.

Or if I misunderstand you and you want this fitting
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=523373&d=1426124959
then I"d go to a hose barb and the hose they sell by the foot and make my own hose.

I find a lot of the fittings I buy have a pretty ragged finish on the threads.
I give them a wire wheeling, or maybe even time with a triangular file to fix up some threads first.

I deal with Victor Machine out of New York a lot and buy my misting systems off them. They have a decent supply of fittings and I see they have 1/8 inch female connectors. What exactly do you need? I'll send you a link if they have what you need.

I'll give the wire wheel a shot. I've got the parts required for the job, according to the instructions, but something is off. Maybe it is the brass threads. This is what I bought and it should work. I don't want to invest in any more of these 1/8" females. Already ordered 5 from China to be here probably next month. Thought they were us.....

Anyway thanks for the tip.

1/8 female to accept 1/8 male NPT - need that on one end and a quick connect male 1/4 on the other end.
I posted a pic of what I've already purchased that's supposed to work fine but again the threads aren't good, not sure if the male or female threads are bad

That last photo looks like a quick connect air fitting to me

That's the mfg site

It looks like what I would call a Milton M type air fitting.
common as can be in my local hardware stores, TSC, Home Depot,

these links are from a canadian store, but they have good photos and they list the "type"

Home Depot will have them, this one is steel and you probably want brass
but you will have to look in the air tools and hoses section, not plumbing.

Most of those fittings are 1/4" NPT
on the threaded end, but being so common, it's easy to adapt that to your hose with barbs or couplings or whatever

I think I see it now
You have this

480.2966.jpg

It has a 1/8NPT fitting for the air in

since the 1/4 npt quick connects are so common
I'd adapt that to the type of quick connect I use

So to simplify
I'd cut that 1/8 npt fitting off

Put a hose barb in that fits the hose and gives you 1/4npt out

and then quick connect air fittings that fir the 1/4 are really easy to find.

(if that's the style that fits your quick connect)

or
Home deopt list an eighth to quarter coupling adapter
put that one, use a quarter sized air fitting.

Mcmaster- Carr or your local Parker store or any hydraulic hose shop for that matter.

At least half the fittings I get that are made in China have bad threads. Buy domestic fittings and you will almost never have a problem.

Tim

I have the same system and couldn't find anything to fit it so last resort I called Kool mist and they said the air supply fitting is 1/8-27 npt and the hose id is 1/8
Now I am off to try and find fittings or I am going to cut the hose too.
Hope that helps.
John

The fittings in your pic. do not look like NPT. NPT is National Pipe Thread, which is a tapered thread. What you have looks like straight thread. It could be 1/8 - 27 NPS, which is National Pipe Straight Thread. The terms NPT and NPS are often used interchangeably, when, in fact, they are not interchangeable. Unfortunately, customer service people used to know what they were talking about - not so much anymore.

I cut the end off mine, and purchased the appropriate barb fitting from Lowes. (In the plumbing section.)

Just got my kool mist setup today. I found this fitting at Lowe's in the plumbing department. Works perfectly fine.

I think Tim caught the problem the OP is having - as I understand his post, the fitting shown in first photo won't screw into the mister block. As Tim said, it sorta looks to be a straight thread (same as used on conduit), not taper as used on pipe for sealing. If not, could it be a metric pipe thread that close to NPT which would give problems?

Sorry, Atlas Pipe is right. Geeze, guys, I learned that stuff 50 years ago so what do you expect. I'm lucky I can remember my name.
Tim ( I think)
