Hey Guys...

I've just developed what I believe to be the first production friction opening holster for the Benchmade 710.

The knife is carried on the belt handle down. Grabbing the 710 by the scales, it is rotated out of the holster in one motion, As the blade is rotated out of the holster, the knife is opened and ready to use.

I've been field testing mine for several weeks now, and it literally has had nearly 1000 cycles with no degradation in performance, and is securely held in place. The knife is not easily pulled from the holster closed, so it falling out would be very difficult to happen...

The first person who emails me with the phrase "Benchmade 710 Friction Holster" will get one to field test at no cost. The only thing I require is you to use it for awhile, and tell me honestly what you think.

Thanks and good luck.

Eric..

Eric,

When you make one for the Benchmade 805/806 (make SURE that it's "lefty-compatible"!), I'll be the first in-line to test one out for you, but since I traded-off my BM 710, I'll have to pass on this excellent offer to have one of your excellent sheaths...Darn it...:).

Thanks for this Eric...
Nice score Esav
His dyslexic persona coming to the fore I suspect

Hey Guys...

Esav..

You've got it..Email sent...

Dann...

No problem, if the knife has dual thumb studs, it'll work.
I'll work something out for you..
Forgive my ignorance,, I'm not up completely on my Benchmade models...
Which model is it by name..

Oops, I didn't get Esav's post in time. Ignore my e-mail Eric, and good score Esav! Can't wait to see your impressions.

Eric, the models he's referring to are the new and old AFCKs, and they use opening holes not thumbstuds.

The 805 is the TSEK, it has a thumbstud. The 806 AFCK has the hole. I think it was the 800 that was the old AFCK.

Eric,

I have the Benchmade 805 TSEK. It is one of Benchmade's largest folders, and it does have dual thumb-studs. This one would be PERFECT for the type of sheath that you have developed, as it is the one that I carry as my "defensive/offensive" folder, and is perfect in that role. When closed, this knife is 5.43" (13.79cm), and when opened it is a full 9.36" (23.80cm) long. It has a "striking point" at the end of the handle, and a cut-out in the handle for the index-finger.

This system may work just as well on many another knife, but automatic opening is peculiarly appropriate to the 710, with its long, strong blade for self-defense.

Hey Guys...

Dan,, yaa thats a sweet knife...
Have to look into one..:)

As far as a picture goes..

Yes I should be able to put one up in a couple of days...
I made a last minute design change last night, and just got the new ones ground today...

The holster is very small,, roughly about a 1/4 of the pivot end is covered...

I'll post ASAP..

Thanks

Eric...
