I'm looking at buying either a new GEC (probably a GEC 22) or, for about the same price, 2 NOS (new old stock) Schrade Old Timer/Uncle Henry folders. Which would you buy and why? Thanks.
It really depends on way too many factors. What is the handle material? What model Old Timer/Uncle Henry (is it one of each)? What is the steel in the Schrade knives? What do you want to do with them.
If you get the GEC (and I'd opt for a bigger pattern, 25 or 33 if you like small knives) you do realize that it will almost certainly result in you wanting more
In the long run, the GEC option though better, may be dearer......
Either way fairhaven, you're not going to be able to stop with either so you might just as well buy all three... I collect GEC and Schrade USA knives. Both are addicting.
It's hard to go wrong either way. As mentioned, it really depends on what you want. The USA Old Timers in 1095 carbon were particularly good knives, and the NOS units will only become more scarce as time goes on. GEC is really made for a different market. Both are great knives.
