1-Man Lightweight Tent: Carinthia?

Being in the Corps from the days of old (actually just the 90's) before we had all the high speed stuff like Goretex and were still using the very old school duck canvas shelter halfs that look like WWII era vintage, I never really used a tent when I was in the field unless of course it rained. For that matter, most of the guys in my unit including myself would try to get away from using a sleeping bag too when the poncho liner and iso mat would suffice.

Anyways, I hear these days that Marines have some type of light weight single man tent? Not sure who makes it but I was looking for something similar and that was large enough to accomodate me and my pack (Kifaru EMR/MMR). Anyone have experience with the Carinthia tents, specifically the Observer? http://www.military-sleeping-bags.com/home.htm

Thanks!

Ric,
The tarptent looks cool and something about the size and weight I was looknig for. Being a tent novice however, it looks like one would have to hammer stakes into the ground in order to set up the tent? I was looking for something that would set up on any surface (ie: inside a room for explanation purposes) and thus did not require stakes to be hammered into the ground.

MSR Hubba Lightweight solo with options to set up the tent, the tent and fly or just the fly.

I was going to say MSR/Moss as well. I have an old Moss from before MSR bought them and really like it even though it's a bit heavy for a 1 1/2 man tent. Works well and has lasted me for years. They will also set up anyplace, free standing so you just have to use the stakes for the rain fly.

I guess I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but Marmot makes several 1-2 person tents in the 2 1/2-5 lb range. I bought a Marmot Eclipse (which they don't make anymore, but whatever) about 5 years ago, and couldn't be happier with it.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the suggestions. After doing my research and looking at the brands you guys suggested, I think I'll go with a 2 man lightweight tent as the weight difference is neglible. The MSR ones look nice as do the Marmot ones. I currently own a Marmot sleeping bag and love it. Although I do enjoy hiking and camping alone, there are times when I'll go with a friend.
