1 Micron Compound

Ebay is your friend. You can find every sort of sharpening and lapping compound known to man! And for absurdly cheap prices too. You can get pots of diamond compounds from 10 micron down to 0.25 micron, made for the gem polishing trade. Chromium oxide, Aluminum oxide, Silicon carbide... what ever you want, and for just a few dollars each for amounts that will last you years as stropping compounds.

Im looking for a good affordable 1 micron compound preferably chromium oxide

Most any decent chrome-ox compound will be within that grit range anyway. Most of the 'good ones' are spec'd more closely to 0.5 micron 'average'; but most all of them will fall into a range between 0.5 and 1 micron anyway.

Look for brands that specifically ID the compound as chromium oxide ('chrome oxide', Cr2O3, etc). You have to be careful with assumptions about 'green' compounds in general, as some of them will be blended to include something other than chromium oxide, like aluminum oxide, which may be coarser (probably will be, in fact). That's not to say those compounds won't work well, as they have advantages too. But if you're specifically looking for chromium oxide, make sure the vendor IDs it exactly as that.

If you're looking for something more closely limited to that 1 micron size, it'd likely be easier to find it in something like diamond or cbn. 1-mic diamond in particular is popular as an all-around good stropping compound in general.
