Easiest way to start a fire...here it is.

First off love my BK11. 1095 throws a spark every time.
Dryer lint
Waxed paper
Dry kindling
Apple wood (whatever you got)

PULL the magnesium stick quickly in the little divot where the end of the blade stops.

Bam.

1st strike. First fire. No Effin around frustrated that it took too long or never did start. Effin full proof. Own it. Do it now!

First, it's called a sharpening choil.

Second, if you have dry kindling...its not really rocket science.

Third...if you carry around wax paper and dryer lint....why not carry a lighter?

True, but why bother with the lighter? I prefer to simply twist the key. Fires stink up the RV. :D

Seriously though. I get it. When you find a commbination that makes you happy, you want to share. Have fun, but you might also want to play around with other methods and even primmative ignition systems....they can be fun;)

This would be better in the Wilderness & Survival Skill section, but I'll play along, because I do enjoy outdoor skills.

I carry a fire kit, with multiple way to create a fire, including two mini bic lighters. I use a firesteel most often, just because I like using it. It feels very primitive and I enjoy that.

Playing with knives and ferro rods is really, really fun.

Now, step up to natural tinders only. It's even more fun.

Carbon steel knife and some flint!

And some really dry fine kindling?

No. Damp. If one is going to do "survival" or "primitive" it shouldn't be easy! Never quite got that one. :D People are always taking their hi end knives to "practice survival". Take just a Vic Classic and a carbon steel firestriker. Now there's some survival practice.
