What are the diffences between the 1 and 16?

I had a 5in #1 w/sawteeth for a while and traded it off, seemed to light in my hand. Will the 16 be heavier or was the a function of blade weight that was lost when the teeth were cut into the blade?

Any info on the differences would be great.

Thanks in advance,

The Model 16 would be heavier simply because it is an exposed tang knife and has more steel. That would also be the case with a Model 16 SF#1 since it has the exposed tang as well.

The Model 16 comes only with a 7" blade and weighs in at 14oz. The weight range for the Model 1's is 8 to 10 oz depending on the blade length. The Model 16 comes standard with a stainless steel blade, while the Model 1 comes standard with a tool steel blade and the stainless blade would count as an option. Also the sheath on the Model 16 is finished with a wax impregnated finish as opposed to the standard finish on the Model 1 sheath.

My Model 16 is probably my most used Randall. It has the sawtooth blade and a brass, curved double hilt. The sheath is an after-market nylon sheath:
