Does anyone make 1'' x 8'' stones in the edge pro format? I would at least like to get a few of the coarse type to speed up re-profiling, but a full set would be nice. I prefer silicon carbide stones. I can make and add the aluminum base-plate if needed to make them work on my 2 TSProf Ko2 sharpeners. Thanks for looking and the help.

Boride Engineered Abrasives Roughing stones, except Ruby, are all available in 1"*8". They are aluminum oxide of varied hardness. If I find or remember any SiC stones I'll add a link to this post.

I finally found 1"×8" silicon carbide stones, branded Grinderman, from Russia. There is a set of them on eBay by seller kirill_novoross titled Set 6 Sharpening Stones Grinderman 25x8x200 mm of carbide of silicon. I don't know of another source for them.

Hi,
Whats the lowest grit you got?

There are apex style ~1inch x ~6inch
chinese diamonds plates down to 80 grit or even 60 grit ...180-260 microns
and even 80 grit green SiC stone

scythe/boat/garden hones you might find in your local hardware store for under $10

10" x 1-1/4" x 3/4" Norton Coarse Crystolon Sickle and Scythe Stone ... 120 micron
10" x 1 and 5/16" x 9/16" BYXCO "Manticore" Abrasive File Grit: 260 Micron (FEPA F 60 | ANSI 60 | JIS 60)

You can always turn any sic stone you have on the side and get 1 inch :)

I don't have a TSProf but why not make the aluminum plates and use sandpaper wrapped and taped to it?

I use wet/dry SiC sandpaper preferentially for thinning blades, however I would not use it in the form of small 1"×6" or 1"×8" strips as even the 3"×11" strips I typically use wear out quickly.

Ah yeah, good point.

I recommend ordering 1 X 1/4 X 6 inch SiC stones from www.congresstools.com You want the Moldmaster series. They cost $4 each.

S.T.A.T.E.S. S.T.A.T.E.S. And how do you propose getting around the length insufficiency? :p

I was the first US Dealer for TSProf sharpeners and have sold hundreds of kits. The SiC stones that come with the kits are 6 inches long. The Congress Tools SiC, Moldmaster stones can be bought in 6 inch lengths. Just in case you think I am mistaken, here is a photo of the Congress Tool stone on top, the TSProf on the bottom and a ruler just below. Please visit our website to see the kits. There is a sale going on now with $50 off and free shipping in the contiguous US.
