Tomorrow will be one year since I forged my first blade with Dan Farr. The knife took me over three months to make. I didn't have any tools, just a file I found in my basement :). In June I took the ABS Intro course, which moved me way along the curve ;). Anyway, I thought it would be fitting to make another curly maple hunter.

Thanks to Dan Farr, Terry Primos, Bailey Bradshaw, and Bruce Fuller...who knows what I'd be making without your help :).

Matt,

It was my pleasure to have you in the ABS intro class. I have enjoyed our interaction before then, and since. Are you going to keep the one year knife? I think you should, along with your JS test knife and hopefully MS test knife.

Keep up the good work. The knife looks great.

BTW, I finally used a block of the Claro Walnut you gave me. Turned out REALLY nice.

I'll assume that the knife on the bottom is the latest one (if not your skills are diminishing quickly). It looks pretty darn good. I see a great deal of improvement. That top one is an excellent effort for a first knife though. Especially considering you only had a file to use for the final shaping of the blade.

You've come a long way, baby! What a difference a year (and a new KMG) makes. Keep up the good work.

Your amigo,
Brett

You're doing great bubba, and you've come a long way in a short while. Thanks for the mention. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Brett, the KMG kicks ass and speeds things up. It also screws things up a lot faster too :).

Bailey, yeah, I am going to keep this one. I thought about giving it to Valerie's dad...but then I decided against it. I'm glad the walnut turned out for you...the dust will permanently dye your fingers purple :). I shudder when I think about the knife I sent you ;).

Thanks again.

Matt
