For the last year I've carried mainly a Vic Cadet. Now I have also carried my Queen stockman and a Russel barlow but 95% of the last year it has been the little Vic. Cadet. The main blade has allot of life left but it has been sharpened down quite allot and almost looks like a sheepsfoot. Other than that it still walks and talks like new. I can see the knife lasting for easily another year of my abuse and then some. I'm fairly impressed this little knife has held up so well, and done all that I've needed done. I was thinking I'd do the same for the next year with my Q. stockman but I think I'll keep on carrying the Cadet. :)

The Vic Cadet is a nice knife. It is thin and disappears in the pocket until you need it. It has very good fit and finish and useful tools. I like the alox Vic line and find myself carrying a soldier most times I want a SAK. The great thing about alox Vics is that they pair up well with the small regular SAK many knuts carry on the key ring, many tools with no redundancy. The soldier and esquire yield big blade, small blade, awl, bottle opener, large standard screwdriver, can opener, small standard/phillips, nail file and cleaner, scissors, toothpick and tweezers. Good stuff and easy to carry.

I'm almost at a year with a red Victorinox Farmer in my pocket. This is actually the last knife I bought. Oddly, the itch for a new knife hasn't needed scratching since then. Although a blue Farmer would be nice...

Congrats, Bill, that's a pretty good go of it with primarily one knife.

For years I carried just a Vic Super or Deluxe Tinker and a Gerber LST as my only knives but haven't been able to resist changing 'em up near daily for years now.

Stick around here.
We all carry a spray container of itching powder instead of pepper. :)

Thanks for mentioning the Alox Vics. After reading this post I just purchased a red Alox Vic keychain knife for my fishing buddy off eBay. He broke his plastic handle Vic keychain knife and I figured the Alox model would make a nice durable Christmas gift. There's one thing off my holiday shopping list!

Mmmmmm....I bought the blue Farmer and have been wondering about buying a red one, hopefully they won't make these in too many colors...lol.

Funny thing about the various colors in alox and all the itching for more knives we seem to feel around here... I was not going to mention it before but I like the alox SAKs enough that I have multiples in each style I have. 2 Farmers, one blue and one red, 2 Soldiers, '02 and '93 models, 2 Classics, black and silver, 2 Cadets, silver and green.

Back to the Cadet though and a question... Do you keep the keyring on or file it off? I took it off my silver Cadet and left it on the green one. I find it bites into my hand a bit but like it as a place to attach a lanyard or Photon light. Any thoughts?

Right now I'm carrying a Cadet II and a small Schrade stockman (108OT). I like the Cadet a lot. It's small and slim, and I wind up using the cap lifter and screwdrivers on a fairly regular basis. Also, being an 84 mm SAK, the main blade on the Cadet is less than 2 and 1/2", so it's legal for me to carry in the federal building where I work.

I've got a cadet 2 and I left the ring on. I like the option of attaching a lanyard for some places.
