for what it's worth, went to W-mart today and bought a Gerber multi. for 10.00 !!!!!!! it is much like the 600 model. it doesn't say "600" but is on the same frame. 10.00 i first noticed them before Christmas. looked like some special deal that they always have for the holiday. my location had about 50 instock

My local walmart has them at $25. There is still a bunch of them there so hopefully they'll drop down some. It would be nice to have a couple more backups for the cars and such.

Thanks for the heads up.
Went to Super Wal-Mart in Central Park and found a whole shelf full for 11 bucks each. Scored 3 for putting away for later. I paid 25 for the same thing before Christmas.
This looks to be a Wal-Mart exclusive of the 600 model.Good edc for work.
Thanks again.

They're still $21 at my Wal Mart, but they have a lot left so maybe they'll come down. For those who have purchased them, do you think they are a cheaper grade Gerber made exclusively for Wal Mart?

Target is carrying a whole line of gerber tools for a really good price.
I bought an auto opener pliers for my dad for xmas. The price: $34.99! couldn't beat it!
I also bought a paraframeI and a solstice for $25!
just got to look around!

They're close, but not the same. The name of the Wal Mart exclusive is the Gerber Sportsman and it comes with less tools than the 600.

The Sportsman combines the plain and serrated blades into one 50/50 blade. It also loses the small flathead screwdriver. It adds a small reamer-like blade. The medium flathead/bottle opener tool is longer than the 600 -- at least my 600, but I have an older model.

It sort of seems that way. I don't know if it's just because it is well broken-in, but my 600 seems to be of a better fit and finish. My Sportsman has a gritty slide action and the pliers stick when opened, but I haven't used it much or lubed it yet. The surfaces of the tool are rougher than the 600. Finally, the tools themselves feel gritty as they are pulled out. Some of this may break in over time, and it may be mostly pyschological, but the Sportsman feels "cheaper."

All that being said, I wanted an inexpensive tool to be kept in the glove compartment of my car. The Sportsman fits that bill perfectly.

Crap! I was just at Wally world last night. I didn't see anything. I guess I'll have to run back over there (it's less than 1 mile away) and search every isle.. :(

what i actually did was just change out some of the tools on my 600 for some on the wally-world model.

really just picked up one for my helper, we use needle-nose pliers all the time.
he loves his. 10 bucks, whats to loose.

agree with crash, not built the same as a reg. 600 but.......

*prices started at 25.00 then after Christmas, 21.00 and now they are blowing them out for 10.00. just watch the prices

Ohio. depends which you go to, the parma store had them for $15 and the Copley store had them for $21, i'm checking the parma store again tommorow. i got a schrade 2000 there for $5 about 3 months ago. these gerber were in a box in sporting goods not in the case so you have to look for them. :D
