Hi Gents

This Bowie has a blade from W-1, a full flat grind, blade length is 260mm, blade thickness is 6mm on the spine, the blade width is 43mm and the overall length of the knife including the pommel nut is 395mm. The gun blued S-shaped hand guard has a vine and thorns filed along either edge and clam shells on each end. There are three brass coined spacers with the gun blued bolster, which has a filed centre groove and tram lines around either edge. The Sambar stag handle has a gun blued butt cap filed to match the flutes in the antler and is held in place with a gun blued pommel nut. The sheath is of a Mexican loop style dyed mahogany brown with a python skin inlay on the front panel of the sheath.
I hope you like it, thank you for taking the time to look. All comments and critique very welcome.

All the best

Steve

Excellent, Steve. Usually I recoil a bit when I see Spanish notches, but this one really seems to complete the blade.

Great looking set. Is there any discomfort with the guard when using a choked up grip on the handle?

Thanks for your comments fellas, I would be careful about choking up on this blade the thorns on this guard are going to bite just like a good old English rose. I would keep my fingers back behind the guard on this one. The balance point is in the middle of the ricasso and for such a long blade it is surprisingly light and fast.

Very nice, clean work indeed.
Good to see some stuff like this coming out of the UK.

Wow, very clean blade! I love seeing a nice satin, belt finish on higher end bowies/knives from time to time and this is no exception.

I'm usually not a fan of a ricasso that is wider than the front of the handle, but on this it goes very nicely with the overall theme of the knife and doesn't really interrupt the flow of it. The taper of that beautiful stag balances it all out.

That guard is sweet! And those coined spacers are perfect!!

Love that sheath too.

Beautiful work as always!

Steve, you have outdone yourself on this one!

My old fave was your Brute Bowie, this one is outstanding!

Having bought a Bagwell style knife from Steve last year and saw the standard of work, I commissioned this one from him. As yet I do not have the knife in my hand, hopefully in the next couple of days I will and then I will give you the script on it.
I have very few "big" knives from UK makers but I will be adding some more of Steves work to the collection.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment gents. Even though I really enjoyed making this Bowie Steve and I hope Rick is as happy with her as I am. There was something about that Brute Bowie, I wouldn't have been put out if the customer had turned around and said he didn't like it. I would have quite happily kept her for myself. I have some build pictures of this Bowie, if you are up for it I'll post a couple later. Thanks again gents.
