I always said/wished someone would make a serpentine jack around 3 1/8" closed with a spear master & a wharncliffe or coping secondary. The #92 Eureka is slightly bigger at 3 5/8" but what I like about it has the tuff solid ruggedness of my #54 moose and the pocket friendliness of the #68 white owl. I've used it around the home for all manner of task, from utility to food and it has not disappointed, I like the combination of the two blade shapes. It also came sharper than any of my other GEC's with very even grinds, I have not done anything nor have I had to touch them up yet. In fairness #54 & #62 also came sharp & even, but the #68 I had to work on to get it to my liking it came very uneven and not very efficient. I don't dare say that I may have found " the one " but I usually have a tough time deciding what I want to carry from day to day, usually dictated by what task I have ahead of me, the #92 Eureka seems to handle it all, with a certain old tyme elegance, that has me drawn to it. I believe it's my only traditional with steel liners, and I find them to be very appealing, especially with the tight, gapless fit to the springs. GEC definitely hit this one out of the park, I'm extremely pleased. This was a Father's Day gift, from my wife & daughter, the moccasin sheath was a added bonus, free from Derrick & Wendy at KSF, a very nice touch.

Beautiful knife, I must say. Even more special that it was a gift. I always find myself preferring knives given over knives I purchase for myself.

I'm really liking the all steel models, too - all have been like yours with a tight gapless fit.
GEC seems to do these right.
Glad to hear you're enjoying your new knife, Pete

I echo your sentiments in regards to the #92. Nice all around knife. As functionally excellent as it is visually interesting. You are also correct in your assessment of the all steel construction, they are my favorite carrying knives. I rotate a pair of Champlin's accompanied by either a Huckleberry or a Pony Jack.

Thanks Pete, that knife already looks loved  I forget does this one have half stops? How do you find the pull in relation to your others? I have been wanting this one for awhile but so many catch my eye lately. Really appreciate your time and effort on this write up my friend.

Thanks for the replies, it seems those of you with steel models have had the same seamless fit, that is good to know. Jeff both blades have half stops, the pull is really nice, it is what I would call perfect. I tend to like heavy pull like that of a Laguiole, but this has such a smooth opening action all the way through, without being to stiff and at about 75% open snaps with authority into open position. I'll compare the pull to the GEC models I know, I would say my #54 moose is a 10, #68 white owl around a 3, #62 courthouse around a 5, and the #92 eureka a smooth 8, don't know if that makes any sense?

It is a great looking pattern. As you mentioned it has something that makes it seem like it could have come from a hundred years ago.

Thanks for the review! The Eureka Jack is definitely on my short list of knives to own.

I wonder if this pattern would be good in a larger size. I know that it is a compact 3-5/8" closed, but something about the shape makes me think 4" to 4-1/8" closed. A larger sized one might make this a serious bread and butter cutter :D

is the steel of the liners and bolsters stainless? The bolsters sure seem to have stayed shiny whole your blades patinate.

Very nice and excellent gift choice too ! That's one pattern I've been thinking about since they've come out, thanks for the review and photos!

i really love this Eureka Jack! awesome blade and great gift! love your color too. i saw one in buffalo horn that i need to pick up. :)

Makes perfect sense Pete, thanks. Sounds like your perfect pull is mine as well. I love the solid feel, loud snap that comes from the hard pull.

Bolsters and liners are not stainless, they will patina with use although not as quickly as blades/springs for some reason. Of course the bolsters are polished which helps them resist corrosion slightly better.

I have been eyeing this very knife for a while. I love the look of this knife. Thanks for the review and the pictures. This will probably be the next purchase for me. You have any comparison pictures with other GECs?
