Seeing guyons flash contest gave me a nudge to try out making some liners. i used my kids horton hears a who dvd case since it was the only case of color. I used scissors to cut the outline out and then drilled holes. i didnt mark where to drill the holes or take my time. im not big on orange. just wanted to try making them. i had to force the hardware thru the holes. they did fit but the edges stick out some and need to be sanded down. im not going to bother finishing them but this was very easy and done in about 10 minutes.

Not bad for your first attempt.

I just tried this myself and it took me a little longer to do it. I did basically the same as you did. Traced them and cut them out with scissors. I then rounded the edges with a Dremel... The hoot is that after they were done, the standard screws were a bit short and could not mount them... I used a neon green dvd case and while sanding them the edges turn white.

yea i couldnt fit the nut on with the liners either. i was going to round the liners with the dremel but i didnt like the color so i just stopped, im lookin for an od green case :) ill buy that movie just for the case. then ill actually take my time make em nice, and get longer hardware. its one of the very few modes i can pull off myself lmao.

If you use a plastic liner and the edges turn a color on you, you can either take some polishing compound to them and buff them back to color, or take a lighter and give them a quick pass to melt the stressed edges back to normal.

will do nothing needed send me ur address. but the edges dont line up right, youll have to grind them down.

I'm planning on trying to make a set as soon as I run out of laundry detergent. Maybe go over to big lots and look for a $3 movie with a colored case or hit up wal-mart and the thrift stores for something made of colored plastic.

Xbox games use neon green cases and PS3 games have clear cases. Translucent might be neat.

I did the same thing with a set of black liners for my 16 the other day. I didn't have the longer hardware either but it worked with a liner on one side until I can get new hardware.
