So I got a new Custom Knife Factory Fif20 in the mail today and I discovered what appears to be a folded 10 ruble bill inside the knife pouch.

Is this some kind of Russian tradition?

It's not the first Custom Knife Factory piece I've gotten but it is the first time I've seen this. Anyone else get one of these?

Dunno about Russian tradition, as Shiro or Cheburkov don't do that. But, yeah, typically with a CKF you should expect to get the following:
  • Velcro pouch
  • Red microfiber cloth
  • Credit card sized Certificate of Authenticity, with a 10% discount code for future purchases
  • Little baggie with spare hardware
  • Soviet rubles
  • Chocolates
It's just their thing, I guess.

Soon you will be sleeping with the fishes.

All kidding aside, my mother and her side of the family (Scottish) would insist on giving money along with any sharp tool - so they would tape a penny inside the package when giving a knife etc. Ten Ruples in USD is around fifteen cents, so consider it tradition and enjoy the foreign document.

Ok, I figured it was something along those lines. I've heard of giving somebody a coin when they give to you a knife so that it doesn't split the friendship, but I hadn't seen this before.

Pretty cool all in all. Thanks guys

In Russia, the tradition of paying for a knife at least a little. Even if it's a gift. It's probably just a joke. In addition, paper 10 rubles is now a rarity. In the course of a coin.
