First off, I apologize if these post are annoying but I had put forth my effort for a few months now and I still don't have a sub 3" tactical (non-traditional style) folder and I want one...or two. Here's the deal.

I already have:
Benchmade Adamas
Benchmade Torrent
Buck Prince
A few Case Knives

I have had two sub 3" folders so far:
Benchmade Mini Presidio SBK - not my style. sold it for the Snubby
Emerson CQC-14 SF Snubby - not felling it. got rid of it.

I don't want a Spyderco right now and I really don't know what falls into my price range (please don't question my price range) besides the Benchmades, Emersons, a few iffy SOGs, and some Kershaws and ZT's that I don't really dig.

Here are my potential knives I may get.
Benchmade Emissary (yeah, I know it's not under 3" but close enough for work)
Benchmade Sequel
Mini-grip (meh, but too small. I eventually want a big one as a beater.)
derrr, that's all I can come up with! help!

I'm posting this in hopes of finding suggestions from others on knives from other manufactures that may fit my requirements. I don't keep many non traditional style folders. So my requirements are specific. I have a million +3" blades that I want, just not so many under 3".

Brous silent soldier flipper.
Interesting knife. I need a knife with at least somewhat of a belly though. I don't like that super straight edge. If they made a Kershaw Leek with a belly and a stone washed blade, I would buy it in a heart beat. My buddy's ultra rough black G10 Leek with an S30V blade is actually really nice...if it wasn't for the blade.

Just got a Doug Ritter mini grip a few weeks ago and I love this knife. It replaced my Techno

I would look at MCUSTA knives (lots of models, I have the gentleman's folder MC-5). Also the Al Mar Falcon Talon. Neither is really "tactical" but I would not consider them traditional.

Buck Vantage Pro (small) - S30V, Bos HT, deep carry pocket clip. Much less than $100 as well.

If you keep your eyes pealed you can get a Lnib small sebenza 21 for 250 in the exchange forum

what are your preference on steel ? and are there any companies you dont want to look at?
I would love for the knife to have S30V or better. 154CM is fine though. I just don't want anything less than that.

The Buck Vantage is nice. However, I can pick that up any day. I'm looking for something a little more premium. (EDIT: OHHHH Vantage Pro!!! I see. Daddy like.)

This is what I am talking about. I don't particularly like the Sebenza, but I am curious of some of these more high end folders that I may be able to get used for cheaper. With Cold Steel, Buck, SOG, Mcusta, etc, it would need to be an absolute home run knife for me to "stoop that low" :p for my next big knife purchase.

I really like the idea of getting an Emissary on the cheap and then squeezing in a regular Griptilian too. I like the assisted, the S30V, and the deep carry clip on the Emissary. It almost has everything. I just wish it had more character and resonated with me a little more. I also think it would be silly to have no knives over$100 except for Benchmades. So, that's what I'm going up against. Also, since the knife is almost strictly for work, I would really enjoy something that is more hard use (why I got the snubby). Mini Socom????

No Benchmade or Spyderco? Southern Grinds Bad Monkey, Protech Integrity, Hogue EX of your flavor, MT Socom Elite, Strider PT if you haunt the exchange, Boker Federal Flipper, the list goes on...

ETA: I completely missed the under 3" part, what a ding dong...

Not very often, but it happens. I did last week. Probably the finest bargain in the U.S.
I like folders under 3" also, as it makes it easy for me to gift to grandkids in some more restrictive states.
The Three Sisters Forge Beast, new is $300, but you can find one used on the Exchange for $250 occasionally.
There are many other good small folders, in your price range, which have already been posted. Good luck.

p.s. It makes perfect sense to ask yourself why so MANY of those knives are produced by Spyderco and BenchMade.

I really like the Mini SERE 2000. It's a simple, nice looking, no frills knife. But, I can get so much more with a BM Emissary. Sigh. Decisions.
